Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture, Hits Record-High Furusato Nozei Donation Amount Through Partnership with Satofull

Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture (Mayor: Naomichi Nakamura), in partnership with Satofull Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroaki Fujii), which operates the Furusato Nozei portal site "Satofull," is pleased to announce that the total amount of Furusato Nozei donations received for fiscal year 2025 (as of February 28, 2026) has reached approximately 3.17 billion yen (an increase of approximately 410% compared to the previous fiscal year), setting a new record high.

The total amount of Furusato Nozei donations nationwide exceeded 1 trillion yen in 2023, marking a record high. Although Miyako City previously set a record in fiscal year 2022 with approximately 1.8 billion yen in donations, the amount had declined for two consecutive years thereafter.

In response, Miyako City established a Furusato Nozei Promotion Section in fiscal year 2025 and collaborated with Satofull, resulting in this record-breaking achievement. We view this as a result of the warm support received from donors across the country for Miyako City's initiatives and return gifts.

Main Factors for the Increase in Donations Since fiscal year 2020, Miyako City has utilized Satofull's "Omatome Rakuraku Service" to centralize the management and operation of six Furusato Nozei sites, including "Satofull." As a result, the city has reduced the administrative burden and outsourcing costs related to return gift management and operations, while building an efficient operating structure that has led to an expansion in donations.

In addition, the city set annual goals at the beginning of the fiscal year in collaboration with Satofull and promoted the development of return gifts based on donor needs and market trends. By focusing on creating return gifts that leverage the regional characteristics and appeal of Miyako City, and working closely with local suppliers, the city registered over 200 new return gifts in fiscal year 2025.

These efforts bore fruit when the Miyako City return gift "Thick-Sliced Salted Beef Tongue," introduced in June 2025, reached the number one spot for the first time in the "Satofull" 2025 Popular Return Gift Ranking (Final Version) (*). This product is a thick-cut beef tongue enhanced by a salt-based sauce made with salt from Miyako City, developed with the goal of balancing "donation amount" and "content volume." It attracted donor interest immediately after applications opened, gained popularity through high-rated reviews and an increase in repeat donors, and has been well-received by many as a "return gift that feels worth more than the donation amount." * Calculated based on the number of donation applications on "Satofull" from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.

<Reference Return Gift> This is a thick-cut beef tongue where the salt-based sauce using Sanriku Miyako salt further enhances the flavor. It was jointly developed by Miyako City and local businesses following proposals from Satofull based on donor needs and beef tongue market trends.

Currently, due to donation applications exceeding expectations, shipping is taking some time; however, the supplier is strengthening its production system by expanding facilities and personnel. As soon as the production system is ready, we will work to further improve quality and service, with an eye toward shortening delivery lead times by utilizing Satofull's warehouses. Furthermore, we will expand to portal sites other than "Satofull" to deliver this return gift to even more donors nationwide.
