With exactly one month to go until the national championship, the All Japan SASSEN Association, chaired by Ryuma Motomura, announced that Kirana Resort Inc. has been selected as the Gold Partner for the 4th national championship of the digital chambara sport “SASSEN,” to be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Kirana Resort Inc. is a company established in August 2022 by Maruhan East Japan Company, which operates a comprehensive entertainment business centered on pachinko halls. Kirana Resort develops and operates facilities including Kirana Garden Toyosu, one of Tokyo’s largest all-weather BBQ venues, inspired by the Spanish island of Ibiza. Since opening, the venue has welcomed more than 390,000 visitors, offering a new outdoor dining and leisure style previously unseen in Japan. It is planned and operated as a mixed dining and entertainment facility enjoyed by a wide range of visitors, including families, couples, and children. The BBQ area has approximately 1,000 seats, including indoor cabins where guests can enjoy a comfortable, luxurious, out-of-the-ordinary experience year-round, as well as outdoor sites with the comfort of a terrace at a high-end restaurant. The facility also includes about 450 square meters of lawn green space and a pet-friendly dog run of approximately 150 square meters, with many features designed to help guests relax and escape the busyness of daily life. Since August 2024, Kirana Resort has also operated NINJA+KABUKI TOKYO in Shinjuku, Tokyo, targeting inbound visitors to Japan. The performance combines the spirituality and physical expression of ninja with the aesthetics and musicality of kabuki, enhanced by lighting, sound, and video production to embody “Authentic Japan × Entertainment” as a new form of cultural entertainment. Rather than being merely a tourist-oriented show, the production pursues “Authentic,” meaning genuine Japanese culture, and is built as a Japan-born cultural brand with global expansion in mind. By combining dynamic ninja performances and the traditional beauty of kabuki with cutting-edge stage technology, it creates a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience. The overall supervision is led by Denjiro Tanaka, a kabuki hayashi musician, who also directs the production. Drawing on his experience performing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic opening ceremony and in domestic and international performances and events, he pursues stage expression that builds stories through sound, movement, and spatial direction, based on knowledge spanning traditional performing arts and modern theater. Since its launch in August 2024, NINJA+KABUKI TOKYO has welcomed more than 25,000 visitors. About 99% of attendees are inbound visitors, mainly from Europe, the United States, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. As of May 9, 2026, it has received strong ratings, with an average Google review score of 4.8 from 3,516 reviews and 4.7 on Tripadvisor from 490 reviews. The word “Kiranah” in the company name comes from Sanskrit and means “light” or “path of light.” The name “Kiranah Resort” reflects the desire to bring vivid color to each person’s life and offer moments filled with excitement. The light of SASSEN swords and the expression “setsuna,” meaning the speed of an instant when a sword is drawn from its sheath, also feel closely connected to Sanskrit origins. With a powerful partner opening new paths ahead, the day when SASSEN attracts global attention may not be far away. Do not miss that moment. Tournament logo announcement: In conjunction with the 4th tournament, a new tournament logo has been created. As a sport originating in Japan and aiming for new heights with global attention, the logo is based on the Hinomaru and depicts Mount Fuji, a symbol of Japan’s highest peak, blending through digital technology with the glowing sword that symbolizes SASSEN. Partner recruitment: The 4th All Japan SASSEN Championship is seeking companies and organizations to help energize the tournament. As a next-generation sport from Japan that combines digital technology and martial arts, SASSEN can be enjoyed by children and adults of all genders and is gaining attention as a new sport. Inquiries about sponsorship and collaboration are welcome. Contact: Promotion Partner, Japan Convention Services Inc., Naoki Tanabe, Email: sports@convention.co.jp. About SASSEN: SASSEN is a sport based on self-defense techniques that Chairman Motomura practiced at a martial arts dojo. Born from experiences of the limits of visual judging and dissatisfaction with ambiguous decisions, it was created under the concept of “reviving samurai duels in the modern era.” Using IT technology, SASSEN was developed as a digital chambara sport with the aim of creating a sport that spectators, fighters, and referees can all accept.
