On Monday, March 16, 2026, the All Japan SASSEN Association (Headquarters: Tokyo; Chairman: Ryuma Motomura) conducted a trial session of the next-generation digital sport "Cyber KASSEN" as a special program during a class match held at the gymnasium of Fukuoka Prefectural Yahata High School.
This school is the alma mater of Chairman Ryuma Motomura, making this initiative particularly meaningful. This event followed a previous Cyber KASSEN experience during a science and mathematics course field trip in August 2025; due to positive feedback from students, its introduction into a school-wide event was realized.
On the day of the event, approximately 280 first and second-year students participated. Seven representatives were selected from each class to compete in a team-based tournament format. The matches were intense, fueled by cheers from classmates, creating a sense of unity throughout the venue.
Furthermore, teachers also participated in the matches, and the principal even played, creating an iconic scene where students and faculty competed on the same field.
Cyber KASSEN is a multiplayer digital sport that utilizes sensors and a dedicated app for automatic scoring. Because it can be played safely indoors, it is highly regarded for its ability to meet the demand for indoor activities during the summer months, which have seen rising temperatures in recent years.
In this implementation as well, many students participated proactively in a program that balanced high physical activity and strategy while ensuring safety within the limited space of a gymnasium.
Participating students shared comments such as: "It was so much fun," "I want to do it again," "It was fun to have grade-level competitions and matches against teachers," and "I want this to be included as an official event next year." This reaffirmed its effectiveness as an educational program that fosters collaboration and decision-making skills.
Comment from the teacher in charge "Following the session during the previous field trip, many students said they wanted to do it again. By introducing it as a class match this time, the sense of unity and initiative within each class increased significantly, and the excitement exceeded our expectations. The fact that everyone can participate, including students who are not good at sports, is excellent, and I see potential for it as a future school event."
Footage from the day is available on the official YouTube channel.
The All Japan SASSEN Association will continue to expand the introduction of Cyber KASSEN nationwide as a new form of learning that fuses ICT utilization with physical activity in educational settings.
