Sanko Gakuen Educational Corporation (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) is pleased to announce that it has received the Encouragement Award in the Large Enterprise category at the 'Career Ownership Management AWARD 2026' (hereinafter, this Award; Judging Committee Chairman: Kunio Ito, Director of CFO Education and Research Center, Hitotsubashi University).
This Award aims to introduce excellent practices for maximizing human capital to society by recognizing companies that promote 'new relationship building between individuals and companies' by practicing the three perspectives of career ownership management (making career ownership talent 'visible', 'increasing', and 'connecting' with management and business) to achieve sustainable growth for individuals and organizations.
Sanko Gakuen's Initiatives
Since the 2024 academic year, Sanko Gakuen has revised its human resources system as a mechanism to leverage and develop the unique expertise and skills of its faculty and staff. To promote autonomous career development among faculty and staff and align the Gakuen's strategy with their aspirations, the following three main measures have been implemented:
1. Strategic KPI Setting Based on Data: Through unique engagement survey analysis, it was identified that 'evaluation and recognition' is the factor that contributes most to the construction of 'career vision'. Based on this, 'satisfaction with evaluation' and 'realization rate of transfer requests' have been set as key KPIs, and organizational improvement based on scientific evidence is being practiced.
2. Thorough Transparency of Evaluation Standards: To eliminate subjectivity and black-box nature of evaluations, 'evaluation standards (agreement on alignment of perspectives)' exceeding 200 items have been verbalized and disclosed to all faculty and staff. This has established an evaluation foundation that everyone can agree upon.
3. Implementation of Optimal Placement through Talent Management: The career aspirations of each faculty and staff member are visualized through a system. Based on accumulated data, fair placement is carried out without relying on subjectivity, thereby supporting the autonomous career development of faculty and staff.
Reasons for the Award (Judges' Comments)
The judges highly praised the shift in the HR system from 'assessment' to 'growth support', starting from the satisfaction with evaluation and the realization rate of transfer requests.
The effectiveness of verbalizing and disclosing standards through evaluation skill development meetings, as well as visualizing the aspirations and strengths of faculty and staff with a talent management system to eliminate subjectivity and achieve optimal placement, was also highly regarded.
Furthermore, the significant value of improving evaluators' communication skills through interviews and training, and increasing satisfaction at the現場 (workplace), was also noted.
Moving forward, we expect this mechanism to be further connected to on-site practice, further strengthening the virtuous cycle of expertise development and enhancement of Gakuen value.
