Sumikko Gurashi Characters Support Antarctica, the "Corner of the World"! Sumikko Gurashi Appointed Official Support Character for the "Great Antarctic Exhibition" Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Antarctic Observation

(Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) announces that "Sumikko Gurashi" has been appointed as the official support character for the special exhibition "Great Antarctic Exhibition," to be held at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) (Location: Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo) from July 1 (Wednesday) to September 27 (Sunday), 2026.

To commemorate the appointment as official support character, "Sumikko Gurashi Special Squishy Sticker" set tickets will go on sale from May 12 (Tuesday), 2026. Additionally, "Great Antarctic Exhibition x Sumikko Gurashi" original items will be sold at the merchandise shop of the "Great Antarctic Exhibition" at Miraikan.

Antarctica is a very important place where we can learn about the Earth from its ice, air, sea, and living creatures.

Japan has been going to Antarctica and continuing research for 70 years. In this exhibition, you can see, touch, and experience the results of that research and learn the secrets of Antarctica in a fun way.

There are many highlights, such as powerful videos that make you feel like you've been to Antarctica, an experience of feeling the intensely strong winds called "blizzards," and records of the Earth left in real ice brought from Antarctica.

Through various experiences, you can also understand where and how the members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition conduct their research.
