Samsung and Google Officially Unveil Intelligent Eyewear

Samsung Electronics and Google announced on May 20, 2026, at 'Google I/O 2026' that they have co-developed two styles of intelligent eyewear in partnership with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Designed as a companion device for smartphones, the new eyewear features a familiar aesthetic while providing voice-operated AI support and seamless connectivity to smartphones.

The product is the result of a collaboration combining Samsung's advanced hardware engineering, Google's AI technology, and the premium design expertise of each eyewear partner. Gentle Monster showcases its bold signature aesthetic, while Warby Parker presents sophisticated, timeless designs.

Designed to help users understand the world in real-time, the eyewear allows for hands-free assistance. Users can ask Gemini for routes, receive personalized suggestions for nearby locations, order takeout, summarize text messages, or add events to their calendars. Other features include real-time voice translation and the ability to translate menus or signs within the user's field of view. Operating seamlessly within the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem, the device helps users manage daily tasks without needing to reach for their smartphones.

Jay Kim, EVP and Head of the Customer Experience Office at Samsung's MX Business, stated that this intelligent eyewear is a significant step in Samsung's AI vision, expanding the Galaxy ecosystem with unique, form-factor-optimized AI experiences. Shahram Izadi, VP and GM of Google Android XR, emphasized that the collaboration is a powerful step forward in their shared vision to make AI more convenient and accessible in daily life.

The first collection of intelligent eyewear is scheduled to be released in select markets this autumn, with further details expected in the coming months.
