Docomo: Largest Number of Samsung Galaxy Products in Japan, All 30 Models Now Support "docomo Starlink Direct" Satellite Communication Service

(hereinafter referred to as Samsung) is pleased to announce that all 30 Samsung Galaxy products*1 are now compatible with "docomo Starlink Direct," a direct satellite-to-smartphone communication service provided by NTT Docomo, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Docomo), which utilizes the "Starlink Mobile" satellite communication service offered by Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (hereinafter referred to as SpaceX). The number of "docomo Starlink Direct" compatible devices per manufacturer makes Samsung Galaxy the highest in Japan. With "docomo Starlink Direct," which Docomo is launching, all 30 Samsung Galaxy smartphone models handled by Docomo are eligible. Customers subscribed to any of Docomo's pricing plans can use this service for free for the time being, without the need for an application. To use this service, a compatible device, an update to the latest software, and a Docomo UIM card or eSIM compatible with this service are required. Communication will now be available in environments where it was previously inaccessible, such as mountainous areas, remote islands, and at sea, allowing users to check weather, maps, and their current location. Furthermore, during disasters, it will be possible to secure communication means with family members. Through collaboration with Docomo, we have achieved "docomo Starlink Direct" compatibility for all 30 Samsung Galaxy smartphone products, the highest number in Japan, to ensure many customers can use it with peace of mind.
