Salad Cosmo Co., Ltd. (CEO: Tomohiro Nakata, Headquarters: Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture, hereinafter Salad Cosmo), which manufactures and sells bean sprouts and other products, and Hokto Co., Ltd. (CEO: Masayoshi Mizuno, Headquarters: Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, hereinafter Hokto), which manufactures and sells mushrooms, will hold their first collaborative food education event for elementary school 4th to 6th graders on two days: July 11, 2026 (Sat) and July 29 (Wed), at "Chikori Village," a tourist facility operated by Salad Cosmo. This event aims to provide an opportunity for parents and children to become interested in food by learning about "bean sprouts" and "mushrooms," familiar products that are available at stable, affordable prices year-round.
Sparking Interest in Meals Through Familiar Ingredients
Salad Cosmo and Hokto have previously collaborated on various initiatives, including the development of "Kin-katsu-kei Cut Vegetables" using Hokto's Buna-shimeji mushrooms, the creation of collaborative recipes for bean sprouts and mushrooms, and joint social media promotions. This event marks their first collaborative event. "Bean sprouts" and "mushrooms" are both easily affordable and consistently available in the vegetable section of stores throughout the year. While many people buy them as a matter of course, many are likely unaware of how they are grown.
The event is designed to be an opportunity for parents and children to learn about the environments in which these familiar ingredients are cultivated and their benefits, thereby fostering interest and engagement in their daily meals.
Kin-katsu-kei Cut Vegetables
Additionally, the Chikori Village restaurant will be holding a limited-time "Summer Vegetable Fair with Mushrooms and Sprouted Vegetables" from July 1 (Wed) to July 31 (Fri), featuring delicious dishes using mushrooms and sprouted vegetables (dining is optional). By visiting during this period, you can also enjoy menus that combine bean sprouts and mushrooms.
Salad Cosmo will continue to focus on "fun and useful" food education activities that leverage the insights of vegetable producers to convey the power of vegetables and the importance of eating, and will put effort into these initiatives.
