MUJI to Launch Children's Clothing Designed to Protect Kids from Heat with Functionality and Gentle Comfort

Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo / President and Representative Director: Satoshi Shimizu), which operates MUJI, will sequentially release children's and baby clothing themed around protecting children from the heat, in preparation for the continuing rise in temperatures during the summer months. These items will be available at MUJI stores nationwide and online.

Ryohin Keikaku aims to enrich and organize daily life based on the value that "simplicity needs no apology for its luxury," in pursuit of realizing "a pleasant life and society." The new offerings focus on four series incorporating functions essential for the hot season: "Breathable," "Cool Touch," "Good Skin Separation," and "UV Protection."

Clothing to Protect Children's Daily Lives from the Heat

Due to recent heatwaves, there is an increased need to consider children's thermoregulation and living environments. MUJI aims to address the daily challenges children face through clothing by reviewing elements such as breathability, lightness, quick-drying properties, and skin separation. We propose clothing that supports comfort in various life scenes, from outdoor play to indoor activities.

MUJI will continue to develop clothing that supports children's daily lives by responding to changes in climate and living environments. We will also propose products that support children's everyday lives, prioritizing ease of movement, comfort, and ease of changing.

1 "Breathable" Series

This series uses highly breathable materials and a structure that allows air to pass through easily, releasing heat and moisture that can build up inside clothing. The fabric has a dry texture that resists sticking to the skin, ensuring comfortable wear even during sweaty seasons. The design features a relaxed fit, creating space between the body and the fabric to allow air to flow easily. These lightweight and easy-to-move-in garments are suitable for a wide range of activities, from outdoor play to commuting to school. The material is 100% recycled polyester.

2 "Cool Touch Broadcloth" Series

This series features a cool-touch function that feels refreshing against the skin due to the tightly twisted yarn. The fabric has a smooth texture, providing comfortable wear even in the hot summer. It is made from 100% organic cotton, offering a light feel characteristic of natural materials. For ease of wear, elastic has been added to the back of the neck for stretchability, and soft sewing threads are used to balance everyday usability with gentle contact on the skin.

3 "Uneven Yarn for Good Skin Separation" Series

This series uses unevenly spun yarn to create a textured surface that reduces contact with the skin. This design promotes good skin separation, preventing stickiness even when sweating and ensuring a dry, comfortable feel. The relaxed silhouette also allows for good airflow and prevents heat from building up. The lightweight material, a blend of cotton and polyester, is easy for everyday wear and comfortable during hot weather. For baby items, the neckline is designed to be easily pulled over the head, facilitating easier changes. The design also supports children's self-dressing and daily movements.

4 "Waffle Knit T-shirt" Series

These T-shirts are made from 100% recycled polyester with a textured waffle knit fabric that dries quickly. They dry easily after sweating, balancing breathability with comfort. They help maintain a comfortable state even after sweating, making them versatile for everyday use and outdoor play. Additionally, they feature UPF 50+ UV protection (90% UV shielding rate), which is useful for outings during sunny seasons. The relaxed silhouette ensures both good airflow and ease of movement.

5 Quick-Drying UV Cut Wide Jogger Pants

These pants are made from quick-drying, smooth material, making them comfortable to wear even in the hot summer. They dry quickly even if slightly wet from outdoor play, making them easy to manage during the hot season when clothes get wet and laundry increases. They also feature UPF 50+ (90% UV shielding rate) UV protection, useful for outings during sunny seasons. The relaxed silhouette with tapered ankles ensures ease of movement, and the adjustable elastic waistband allows them to be worn for a long time as the child grows. A portion of the material is recycled polyester.
