Raytheon, an RTX Business, Awarded $515 Million Contract for SPY-6 Radar Series

ANDOVER, Mass. (June 3, 2026) -- Raytheon, an RTX business, has been awarded a $515 million contract by the US Navy for the SPY-6 radar series. This contract follows an integration and production support award from June 2025 and includes retrofitting Flight IIA destroyers with SPY-6(V)4 radars.

Under this sole-source contract, Raytheon will provide continued support to the US Navy for the SPY-6 radar series. This includes support for the German government, with expectations that other nations will be added under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program in the future.

"With over a decade of proven performance at sea, SPY-6 remains the most advanced naval radar in the US Navy inventory, providing the fleet with unparalleled detection and multi-mission responsiveness to counter evolving threats," said Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power. "Backed by an $800 million investment to modernize our radar production facilities, we are accelerating manufacturing and expect to double SPY-6 production by 2028."

SPY-6 is currently operating on two US Navy ships, with an additional 11 ships equipped with the radar, all undergoing various stages of testing. Over the next decade, SPY-6 is expected to be deployed on more than 50 US Navy vessels, enhancing defense capabilities against air, surface, ballistic missile, and electronic warfare threats.

SPY-6 is one of several radar programs designed and manufactured at Raytheon’s radar development facility in Andover, Massachusetts. Spanning 30,000 square feet, the facility supports the production of diverse radars for the US military and allies. This vertically integrated, highly automated facility is one of the most advanced production sites in the world, featuring a Gallium Nitride (GaN) foundry that manufactures essential semiconductors for SPY-6 and other Raytheon radars.
