EVO Japan 2026 Highlights (Changes from the previous tournament)

1. "Increased Featured Titles" - The tournament lineup is set for a total of 12 titles

EVO Japan 2026 will adopt the same system as EVO, increasing the number of featured titles for an expanded lineup. The tournament lineup will consist of 12 titles, ranging from the latest releases to long-loved classics and titles with strong community support.

2. Updated Ticket and Entry System

Entry to the tournament will be unified under a 3-day pass, with participation in each title requiring the purchase of a specific code. Additionally, a tiered pricing structure including early bird discounts and late tickets will continue from 2025. To upgrade the viewing and participation experience, a powered-up Premium Area Pass and VIP Area Pass will also be available.

Furthermore, a laminated collaboration pass with the tournament titles will be introduced.

3. Expanded "Visitor Experience" - Adding "Endless Experience Corners"

At EVO Japan 2026, the experience corners will be significantly updated to create "EVO LAND," a place where anyone with an interest in fighting games—from players to spectators-only, beginners to veterans, regardless of gender, age, or nationality—can have fun.

This year's event will once again feature "Side Events" where volunteer communities, groups, and circles host tournaments and events for their favorite titles, as well as a "Cosplay Event." In addition, an area for interacting with pro teams and players will make its debut.

Moreover, a "Free Play Area" will be newly established with pre-installed equipment for tournament titles, allowing for practice and casual matches in the actual event environment. A "BYOC (Bring Your Own Console) Area" equipped with power and long tables will also be available for small-scale events using personal equipment. To prepare for on-the-day arcade stick troubles, the device repair service is scheduled to be expanded.

The expanded arcade area will feature a wide variety of arcade cabinets, including classic cabinets not found at Evo US. The enjoyment beyond watching matches will be further enhanced. In addition to the traditional "Arcade Stick Museum" (exhibition of historical arcade sticks), an exhibition of historical title artwork from various game publishers will be held, providing an experience to "learn" the history and culture of fighting games.

Held once a year, this amazing event gathers people to celebrate the competitive spirit of players and fans in an open tournament that anyone can enter. In recent years, EVO has expanded its locations globally. Outside the US, in addition to Japan, "Evo France" will be held for the first time in Europe in Nice, France, in October 2025. Furthermore, a new event, the "Evo Awards," was launched in Los Angeles in February 2025 to honor community achievements. The series is also scheduled to expand to Singapore in 2027. It has now grown into a global fighting game community of over 10 million people.
