The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Naha (located at 1-11-1 Kumoji, Naha City, 7F琉球Bank Main Building; General Manager: Tatsushi Nakada) will begin offering a new cultural experience program, 'Ryukyu Experience,' starting Friday, July 10, 2026, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the charm of Ryukyuan culture during their stay.

This program focuses on 'Ryukyu Bingata,' a traditional dyeing technique cherished since the Ryukyu Kingdom era as attire for nobility and royalty, vividly expressing Okinawa’s rich natural environment and local character. We have prepared two special programs: 'Bingata Studio Visit,' where guests can experience the history and techniques firsthand under active artisans, and 'Bingata Dyeing Experience,' a hands-on workshop where participants can create their own artwork. Additionally, exclusive accommodation packages are available for guests to fully enjoy each program. Far beyond a simple tourist activity, this is a journey to deeply experience time-honored traditional techniques. Guests can enjoy a one-of-a-kind moment, seeing, touching, and feeling Okinawa’s aesthetic sensibility in their hearts.

Aligned with the 'THE Regional Story' concept of Royal Park Hotels' 'THE Series,' this initiative is positioned as a program supporting the preservation of craft culture from a nationwide perspective. This project was realized through collaboration with 'Kazetsuchi Co., Ltd.,' a company specializing in cultural and regionally rooted experiential content. A portion of the proceeds will be allocated to improving the production environment of the partner workshops, helping resolve artisans’ tool shortages and contributing to a sustainable model where tourism supports the preservation of traditional crafts. By connecting locally inherited traditions with hospitality experiences, we aim to pass on the value of craft culture to the next generation and deliver the profound charm unique to Okinawa.

※【THE Regional Story】is a shared concept of the 'THE Series,' aiming to position hotels not merely as 'places to stay' but as 'hubs for deeply understanding the region' by carefully weaving together five stories inherent in every city where our hotels are located—history, food culture, natural environment, craftsmanship, and people—expressed through both physical facilities and service, to achieve sustainable tourism and regional co-creation.

Program ①

【Chinen Bingata Research Institute: Ryukyu Bingata Studio Visit】

Experience the charm of Okinawa’s long-standing traditional dyeing craft through a special visit to the artisans’ 'color-making' and 'color-application' workshops, passed down from the Ryukyu Kingdom era. Limited to one group per morning and one group per afternoon, this is a profound cultural experience available nowhere else—where you can touch historical artifacts and tools, and hear the stories and emotions embedded in the works and passed down through the Chinen family. The Ryukyu Bingata studio we guide you to is the Chinen family, one of the three major Bingata lineages dating back to the Ryukyu Kingdom era. As a family of dyers who served the royal court, they have preserved designs reflecting Okinawa’s rich nature and royal culture for centuries. Today, the 10th generation, Fuyuma Chinen, upholds the traditions of Ryukyu Bingata while conveying them to the modern world, building upon the skills and spirit of his predecessors. Witness the masterful techniques embedded in each piece, as the family handles every step from design conception to final dyeing. As a special feature of this program, guests will take home one 'authentic Ryukyu Bingata art panel' dyed by Fuyuma Chinen.
