The SSTR Operating Committee (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Fukashi Kazama) will hold the opening ceremony for "SSTR2026 (Sunrise Sunset Touring Rally 2026, hereinafter SSTR2026)" from 13:00 on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at a special venue at the end of Chirihama Nagisa Driveway, spanning from Hodatsushimizu-cho to Hakui City in Ishikawa Prefecture.

### First Attempt in 14th Edition, Symbolizing Regional Coexistence and Disaster Recovery

SSTR is the world's only touring rally where participants depart from the east coast of the Japanese archipelago at sunrise and gather in Chirihama, Ishikawa Prefecture, by sunset. This year, in its 14th edition, this ceremony, implemented as a first-time initiative, will be an important occasion to reaffirm the social significance of the event and deepen ties with the local community.

### Collaboration with 9 Municipalities in Ishikawa Prefecture, Welcoming Thousands of Riders with Brass Band Fanfare

On the day of the event, a traffic safety prayer will be offered by a local shrine to wish for safety during the event period. In addition, guests from 9 municipalities within Ishikawa Prefecture, who have provided significant cooperation for this event, will be invited to participate in a tape-cutting ceremony.

Furthermore, performances by local children's brass bands and greetings from local residents are planned to warmly welcome riders arriving from all over the country. The aim is to create a symbolic ceremony where riders and local residents unite to send cheers to the Noto Peninsula.

Vehicle entry into the venue will be restricted during the ceremony, but general visitors and participating riders are welcome to observe.

### What is SSTR (Sunrise Sunset Touring Rally)?

SSTR (Sunrise Sunset Touring Rally, hereinafter SSTR) is one of Japan's largest touring rallies, conceived by motorcycle adventurer Fukashi Kazama. Starting with 130 participants in 2013, this event has grown into a festival for riders themed around "adventure" and "journey," rather than a race that simply competes for speed.

Its biggest feature is its unique format: starting from the east coast of the Japanese archipelago at sunrise, participants visit designated "stopover points" using an original GPS system to earn points, aiming to reach the goal at Chirihama Nagisa Driveway in Ishikawa Prefecture by sunset on the same day. Riders decide their own participation date, starting point, and route to the goal, competing not on technique or ranking, but striving towards their individual goals. The strong support and cooperation from local communities, administration, and businesses for these individual challenges are also a major appeal of this event.

The SSTR2026 event period is from Saturday, May 23, 2026, to Sunday, May 31, 2026.
