ROMS Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yosuke Maeno), a provider of automation solutions for logistics warehouses and factories, is pleased to announce that its cloud packing assist tool, 'Packing Assist AI,' now includes a 'Inspection Function' as a standard feature, enabling shipping inspection of products during the packing process. No additional usage fees are required, and the existing setup (tablet and scanner) can be utilized as is to further improve operational efficiency on-site.
About the Packing Assist Tool
In the field of logistics DX, attention has been focused on data management through WMS (Warehouse Management System) and physical automation using large material handling equipment such as automated warehouses. However, the packing process for products still relies heavily on the ingenuity and intuition of on-site staff, and the introduction of automatic packing machines has been a challenge due to limitations in product types and space.
ROMS is promoting a new category called 'cloud packing assist tool*' that solves this problem with a software (SaaS) approach, without requiring large hardware investments. 'Packing Assist AI' is equipped with advanced AI calculation logic within this suite of tools, offering dramatically improved usability and reduced decision-making time for on-site staff compared to conventional tools.

New Feature: Inspection Function
Previously, 'Packing Assist AI' provided a function to calculate the optimal packing size based on shipping/packing instructions. In response to requests for a more seamless on-site workflow, we have newly implemented an 'Inspection Function.'
Reduced Man-hours through Simultaneous Operation: In the packing area, scanning the product's barcode for inspection simultaneously displays the optimal packing material size on the screen, as determined by AI.
Space Saving through Equipment Consolidation: The tablet and scanner used for 'Packing Assist AI' can also be used as inspection terminals, eliminating the need to arrange multiple inspection terminals on the worktable.
Standard Inclusion at No Extra Cost: This function is implemented as a standard feature, so no additional option fees will be incurred. (As of June 2026) Even for sites without an existing inspection system, shipping accuracy can be easily improved.
ROMS will continue to prioritize ease of use for on-site personnel and proceed with continuous updates and feature expansions for 'Packing Assist AI.'
Demonstration
To allow you to experience the usability and implementation effects of 'Packing Assist AI,' we offer demonstrations at our Heiwa-jima Lab (Ota-ku, Tokyo) in addition to individual consultations.

Product Description: Packing Assist AI
This is a support tool that combines 3D packing simulation and AI technology to eliminate 'hesitation in choosing boxes' in packing operations.
Its greatest feature is not only recommending the optimal box size with high accuracy but also visually instructing in 3D the 'orientation and order' in which to place the items. Furthermore, it eliminates the need for 'pre-registration of product size master data,' which was a barrier with conventional optimization software. The AI automatically estimates sizes from product names and JAN codes, allowing for immediate implementation even in environments with frequent new product turnover. Additionally, by displaying individual accessory instructions such as bundled items or 'fragile' warnings, even new workers can pack to a certain standard without hesitation. Past case studies have shown reductions in shipping costs of ¥10 to ¥30 per shipment, as well as reductions in man-hours related to packing decisions.
