Roland DG Corporation, a global leader in digital printing solutions, announces the release of two new models in its large-format inkjet printer TrueVis series, the “VG4 Series VG4-640/VG4-540.” Developed with the concept of achieving the highest level of output more smartly, these printers are set to redefine industry standards.
The TrueVis series is our flagship line of large-format inkjet printers, optimally suited for producing sign graphics such as advertisements and billboards. Since its launch in 2016, its greatest feature, “overwhelming expressive power that captivates viewers,” has garnered high praise from professionals worldwide.
The new VG4-640/VG4-540 models further refine this superior expressive power, while also achieving more accurate color reproduction and significantly improved work efficiency through advanced automation features and operability. This makes them the latest models in the series.
## Evolved Expressive Power of the TrueVis Series
Equipped with a newly developed print head that ejects fine ink droplets at high density. In combination with our unique “True Rich Color” print setting, it enables high-level expression that balances vivid colors with neutral grays, smooth gradations, and natural skin tones.
The new “TR3 ink,” which is GBL-free (does not contain the chemical gamma-butyrolactone), is used. In addition to the existing nine colors CMYKLcLmOrGrWh, light black and red have been newly added. While being environmentally friendly, it achieves vivid and rich colors and high color reproducibility that accurately expresses even difficult brand colors. (Also compatible with the XG-640 model in the same series.)
Furthermore, the white ink achieves approximately 1.3 times higher print density and approximately 1.5 times faster print speed compared to conventional inks, enabling high-density and high-speed underprinting for window graphics and illuminated signs.
## Highest Quality with the Shortest Operation
The TrueVis series also features numerous new functions to achieve high-quality output more efficiently and in less time.
First, output operations that were previously performed on a PC can now be done directly on the printer itself. This allows for separating tasks performed on the printer from those on the PC, reducing the hassle of moving back and forth between the printer and PC. It also enables the establishment of an efficient division of labor, where users can concentrate on tasks from media setting to printing, and from design to output settings, respectively.
The printer also supports “VersaWorks Remote,” which allows for remote control. By simply uploading data to the cloud, output is possible from remote locations such as when working from home or on the go, just as if you were in the office. Furthermore, even turning the printer’s sub-power on/off, turning heaters on/off, circulating white ink, cleaning, and even test prints can be operated remotely. For example, by completing necessary preparations from home before going to the office, the time until output starts can be minimized.
The Print & Cut function has also further evolved. The newly developed take-up control function performs Print & Cut while winding the media so that it does not touch the floor, ensuring efficient and reliable production of large quantities of labels and stickers.
Furthermore, the latest RIP software for output, “VersaWorks 7,” which also supports macOS, strongly backs up difficult color matching tasks. The new color matching function adopting a Wizard format easily corrects individual color differences between printers of the same model, making it easy to correct for printer aging and color matching between multiple printers.
