Roto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Hidetoshi Seki) will co-host, together with Osaka Prefecture and its group company Roto Wellcourt Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Masanori Kumazawa), a mother-daughter femcare seminar titled 'Understanding Women's Health and Self-Care Together' on July 24, 'Self-Medication Day'.

This event aims to create opportunities for participants to learn about physical and mental changes caused by female hormones and self-care practices through expert-led seminars and special menus provided by Roto Recipe. By acquiring accurate knowledge, experiencing health-conscious meals, and encouraging parent-child dialogue, the event supports improved awareness of women's health and the practice of self-medication.

Background

According to estimates by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, economic losses due to women-specific health issues—such as menstrual symptoms, menopausal symptoms, gynecological cancers, and infertility treatments—amount to approximately 3.4 trillion yen annually※1. As society moves toward enabling women to live healthily and thrive, companies are increasingly recognizing the importance of women's health support from a health management perspective. While interest in femcare is growing, many still express uncertainty about where to start or lack opportunities to consult. Additionally, a survey shows that about 70% of women feel they do not receive sufficient health or physical support at their workplaces※2.

Roto Pharmaceutical has long provided products and information tailored to women's life stages, including pregnancy tests, ovulation predictor kits, women's supplements, and intimate care products. However, women's health issues are often not adequately discussed even among close family members. The company believes that increasing dialogue between mothers and daughters—using topics like menstruation, PMS, and menopause as conversation starters—can help normalize wellness discussions and foster healthier lifestyles.

Therefore, in collaboration with Osaka Prefecture, the company is organizing this event on Self-Medication Day to create an opportunity to reflect on women's health through learning and food experiences.

3 Delis + Salad

1. Beet Potato Salad

A deli featuring ingredients rich in polyphenols from beets. Beets are sometimes called 'edible blood transfusion' due to their high iron content. Their vibrant color enhances the visual appeal of the dish, increasing its aesthetic value.

2. Bitter Gourd and Yamato Angelica Plum Mayo Salad

Bitter gourd, known as the 'king of summer vegetables,' is rich in vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C is widely recognized for reducing fatigue and maintaining skin health. The dish also includes flower mushrooms rich in β-glucan. Incorporating principles of medicinal cuisine, it is designed with attention to color and nutritional balance.

Yamato Angelica, originating from Nara Prefecture, is a traditional Japanese herbal ingredient with a distinctive aroma. In medicinal cuisine, it is valued for warming the body and has recently gained attention as a functional ingredient.

3. Fig and Homemade Ricotta Cheese Caprese

This dish emphasizes calcium intake through ricotta cheese. Ricotta, a dairy product made from milk, is rich in protein and calcium and has a mild, creamy flavor. Figs contain plant-based estrogens, offering potential beauty benefits. Despite its simplicity, the dish offers a healthy and balanced composition.

Cold Noodle-Style Soup Pasta with Nakajima Vegetable and Brown Rice Pasta

This dish uses brown rice pasta blended with Nakajima vegetable, served in a light soup inspired by the cold noodles originating from Tsuruhashi, Osaka. The addition of Osaka-produced kimchi introduces lactic acid bacteria, enhancing its value as a fermented food. Tomato juice is also used in the soup, adding antioxidant benefits from lycopene.

<About Nakajima Vegetable> Nakajima Vegetable is a traditional vegetable from the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture, rich in nutrients essential for women's health, such as folic acid, iron, and zinc. The Nakajima vegetable pasta used in this event is a product of 'motto& (Motto &),' a gluten-free pasta brand launched through the internal startup support project 'Ashita Niha.' This menu combines regional ingredients with health value.

Overall, the lunch menu is crafted around the themes of 'fermentation,' 'local ingredients,' and 'women's health,' allowing participants to naturally learn about and experience femcare through eating.

③ Dialogue-Oriented Program for Mother-Daughter Pairs

Through learning and food experiences, the event creates a natural space for discussing women's health topics that are often difficult to talk about. It aims to encourage families to take their first steps toward femcare together.

④ Support for Practicing Self-Medication

Through information sharing and sample distribution of Roto Pharmaceutical's femcare products, the event supports continued self-care practices even after the event concludes.
