Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, President: Hidetoshi Segi) has donated its 10th period of support funds from its "Social Partner Activity," conducted jointly with 10 retail business partners, to an organization engaged in international eye care support activities, as part of its efforts to support the "joy of seeing" for people around the world.
This initiative began in 2016 and marks its 10th period this year. The total donation for the 10th period was \1,614,490, bringing the cumulative total donation since the 1st period to \18,741,850. Many people worldwide still face the risk of blindness due to conditions like cataracts. Rohto Pharmaceutical, together with its business partners, will continue to support efforts to resolve eye health challenges.
What are Social Partners?
Social Partners are retail business partners who, in conjunction with Rohto Pharmaceutical, donate a portion of their sales to social contribution activities such as medical support in Japan and worldwide. In this activity, we employ a matching gift system where partner companies contribute a portion of the sales of designated products, and Rohto Pharmaceutical matches that amount. This is a unique social contribution activity by Rohto Pharmaceutical where companies and distributors collaborate to expand the circle of support.
The 10th period's donations were derived from a portion of sales from "V Rohto Premium," "V Rohto Contact Premium," "V Rohto Active Premium," "V Rohto Dry Eye Premium," and "Rohto Kodomo Soft" between December 1, 2025, and April 30, 2026.

Total Donations to Date
From the 1st to the 10th period, a total of \18,741,850 has been donated with the support of 38 business partners.
Background of the Activity
Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide, and it is estimated that tens of millions of people still lose their sight. Cataracts are a condition where vision deteriorates as the lens of the eye, which plays a role in focusing light, becomes cloudy. While blindness due to cataracts has significantly decreased in Japan due to advancements in surgical techniques, many people in developing countries still cannot receive treatment due to poverty, lack of doctors and medical equipment, and underdeveloped surgical systems. Rohto Pharmaceutical has been engaged in activities such as providing free eye examinations, donating intraocular lenses, and training local doctors. Driven by the desire to deliver the "joy of seeing" to more people, we have collaborated with our business partners as "Social Partners" to broaden the scope of support.
Furthermore, in recent years, childhood myopia has surged in Japan, increasing the importance of daily eye care awareness. Rohto Pharmaceutical is strengthening its awareness activities and product development to protect children's eyes, and in the 10th period, "Rohto Kodomo Soft" was newly added as a designated product. Moving forward, together with our Social Partners, we will continue our activities to support the "joy of seeing" for people worldwide and address eye health challenges, including children's eye health.
Introduction of Supported Organizations
For the 10th period, donations were made to organizations engaged in eye care support activities primarily in Asia and Africa.
●OUI Inc. (Representative Director: Eisuke Shimizu)
OUI Inc. is a venture company spun out from Keio University School of Medicine, founded by an active ophthalmologist. Their mission is to reduce global blindness by 50% and protect people's health through their eyes.
Under the concept of spreading ophthalmologists' "eyes" to the world, they have developed the Smart Eye Camera (SEC), a smartphone attachment diagnostic device. By utilizing the portable and simple SEC, they are dedicated to delivering ophthalmological care to patients worldwide, including in developing countries, in environments where access to eye care itself has been difficult.
●NPO Asian Prevention of Blindness Association (Director: Shigeru Kinoshita)
NPO Asian Prevention of Blindness Association was established to support the dedicated activities in Asia of Dr. Masashi Hattori, who is from the Department of Ophthalmology at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. With the aspiration that even one person in the impoverished countries of the Indochinese Peninsula and Asia, particularly Vietnam, does not lose their sight, this organization provides free ophthalmological treatment and technical guidance locally.

Crossing Borders, Bringing the "Joy of Seeing" Worldwide! "Joy of Seeing Project"
In collaboration with Rohto Group companies overseas, we continuously implement the "Joy of Seeing (JoS)" project both domestically and internationally to protect people's eye health worldwide. JoS has set "Children's Eye Health and Myopia" as one of its key themes, providing opportunities for children and guardians to learn the importance of eyes and to promote early detection and review of daily lifestyle habits through awareness activities at schools, free eye checks (vision tests, etc.), and distribution of educational materials. We are also advancing initiatives tailored to regional challenges such as cataracts and dry eye. In fiscal year 2025, activities were conducted in 13 countries and regions, mainly in Asia, including Japan (approximately 85,300 event participants, approximately 65,300 eye checks). By collaborating with regional stakeholders, we contribute to the realization of a sustainable society and the improvement of community health through awareness activities, information dissemination, free provision of glasses and intraocular lenses, and support for cataract surgeries.
