Rohde & Schwarz will showcase highly resilient cross-domain communications, space domain awareness capabilities, and next-generation counter-drone (C-UAV) solutions at ILA Berlin 2026. These innovations contribute to protecting sovereign airspace, enabling rapid and encrypted information exchange, and maintaining operational freedom even in contested environments.

NEMACS: Rohde & Schwarz's Fully Networked Multipoint Communication System

June 8, 2026, Berlin — The air domain is under unprecedented pressure. Evolving threats, increasingly congested airspace, and the need for fast, reliable information exchange have made air superiority a critical mission. In response, Rohde & Schwarz will present secure communication and counter-drone (C-UAV) solutions at ILA 2026 designed to protect critical assets, maintain operational freedom, and strengthen aerial sovereignty in conflict scenarios. Additionally, the company will offer comprehensive radio frequency (RF) solutions supporting communication, testing, monitoring, and stable operations for space missions. At our exhibition booth (Hall D, Booth 390), visitors can explore a wide range of solutions—from advanced software-defined inter-aircraft communications to cutting-edge counter-UAV (C-UAV) technologies.

The new portfolio delivers high-end encrypted radio communications that reliably connect land, sea, and air domains, ensuring operational capability even in high-intensity jamming environments. IP-based voice and data solutions for air traffic control (ATC) are certified to securely segregate classified and encrypted communications, enabling safe and sovereign ATC operations. Hardened and encrypted command-and-control links support rapid, accurate decision-making across joint forces, while directional secure communications enhance the precision and reliability essential for coordination between forces across domains.

At ILA 2026, two flagship solutions will make their global debut. 'THORIS,' a multi-layered C-UAV system developed in Germany, is designed to detect, classify, and disrupt hostile drones while protecting convoys and transport units on the move. The next-generation directional communication suite 'NEMACS' provides links with minimal detectability and intercept risk, enabling reliable encrypted data and voice communications between forces in multi-domain operations.

Rohde & Schwarz's space business focuses on satellite communications, RF testing and measurement, space domain awareness technologies, and space-based SIGINT (signals intelligence) and electronic warfare (EW). The company provides tools and systems for testing satellites, payloads, user terminals, ground stations, and 5G non-terrestrial networks (NTN), supporting performance validation from development through on-orbit operations. Additionally, we offer satellite communication monitoring and SIGINT/EW capabilities for interference detection, secure communications, and intelligence applications in government, defense, and commercial satellite networks.

Christoph Pointner, Vice President of Strategic Programs at Rohde & Schwarz, said: "Air sovereignty is no longer a static concept but a dynamic capability dependent on resilient secure networks and real-time cross-domain awareness. Our portfolio equips today's armed forces with the capabilities they need to autonomously leverage the radio spectrum, defend against emerging drone threats, and make faster, more precise decisions across land, sea, and air domains."

Live demonstrations at ILA will include THORIS operating in a simulated convoy environment, experiential demos of NEMACS directional links between airborne and ground nodes, and an end-to-end showcase of a secure ATC communication suite with segregated classified communications.
