■ We want you to love Sudan.
Sudan is currently in a civil war. There are areas where medical care does not reach, and areas where safe water is unavailable.
However, there is a richness there that has not been lost—
The more you know Sudan,
the more your world changes.
With this concept, the website introduces Sudanese culture, customs, and the lives of its people. "Sleeping with your bed outside," "not saying thank you," "a food culture of sharing from a large plate 1.5 meters in diameter"—we carefully deliver daily lives that are unimaginable from Japan, yet somehow touch the heart.
■ "Cannot Say Congratulations," Our 20th Anniversary
Roisinantes was established in 2006 by Naoyuki Kawahara, who was serving as a medical officer for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sudan. He resigned from the ministry with the desire to "reach out to those suffering before my eyes" and founded this international NGO. For the past 20 years, we have been engaged in comprehensive health initiatives, including mobile clinics, clinic construction, and improvements in water and nutrition, in areas where medical care is inaccessible in Africa, starting with Sudan.
Children celebrating by having access to safe water
2026 marks a significant milestone for Roisinantes as our 20th anniversary. However, with Sudan, our initial activity base, currently in the midst of civil war, we wanted to use this milestone as an opportunity for people to learn about Sudan, rather than celebrating with "Congratulations on our 20th anniversary."
We want you to encounter a Sudan that is not "pitiful" or "a story from a distant land"—a Sudan several notches above your imagination.
We aim for a site where you can learn about and come to love Sudan.

■ Site Contents
Sudan's greatest charm is, without a doubt, its people. The phrase spoken by someone who had experience stationed in Sudan, "People who get more flavorful the more you chew them," resonates with many who have visited Sudan.
With multiple sections such as "#想像の数段上を行く" (#BeyondImagination) and "#強く生きるヒント" (#TipsForLivingStrongly), we will introduce the wonderful aspects of Sudanese people from multiple perspectives, covering culture, customs, and history.
Full articles are scheduled to be published sequentially after the main site opens in May. The site will be designed to allow users to explore Sudan based on their own interests, with search functionality by category and tag.

Comment from Representative Naoyuki Kawahara
I have been involved with Sudan for over 20 years.
Even before the civil war began, Sudan was by no means a peaceful environment. We have experienced evacuations abroad multiple times, and each time, we have resumed our activities. The current civil war is a more severe situation than any before. Nevertheless, the strength and warmth of the local people remain unchanged. I am truly happy that we have been able to resume our activities.
The people of Sudan now possess the spirit to stand up on their own. We at Roisinantes will continue to walk alongside them. We have decided to persevere relentlessly.
To Shinsaku Takasugi's words, "In a world where nothing is interesting, make it interesting," I add: "Together, we aim for an unexplored summit."
With the entire Roisinantes team, I want to achieve things with the people of Sudan—to a place no one has ever reached before.
First, I want you to know. The country of Sudan, its people, its culture. I believe that knowing leads to liking, and liking leads to support.
■ Brand Message
Sudan is now in a civil war.
There are areas where medical care does not reach.
There are areas where safe water is not available.
But here, there is a richness that has not been lost.
In the hardest times, we extend a hand to others.
We do not leave those in trouble alone.
Even amidst trials, we do not let go of even a sliver of hope.
What about us?
It's supposed to be convenient, yet we feel somehow restricted.
We are supposed to be connected, yet we feel lonely.
We are supposed to be fulfilled, yet anxiety lingers.
If you briefly turn your gaze to Sudan.
The world you see might change a little.
The more you know Sudan,
the more your world will change.
Several notches above imagination.
SUDAN.

■ About Roisinantes
Roisinantes is an international NGO founded in 2006 by Naoyuki Kawahara, who was dispatched as a medical officer for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Sudan during its civil war. He resigned from the ministry to create an environment where everyone can live healthily by establishing systems to deliver healthcare to areas lacking hospitals and other facilities. We operate primarily in Sudan and Zambia, Africa, implementing mobile clinics, clinic construction, and water supply facilities.
The name "Rosinantes" is derived from the name of Don Quixote's skinny horse in the novel "Don Quixote." The name carries the sentiment that "While each of us may be as powerless as Rocinante, the skinny horse, if Rosinantes gather, we can surely bring smiles to the world."
