School TOMAS Co., Ltd. (Head office: Toshima-ku, Tokyo; President: Masayuki Iwata), a subsidiary of Riso Education Group Co., Ltd. (Head office: Toshima-ku, Tokyo; President: Masahiko Tenbo), conducted "Generative AI Utilization and Literacy Training" for all its employees.
With the rapid spread of generative AI, there is an urgent need to improve AI literacy and foster appropriate utilization capabilities in educational settings. This training program, led by HEROZ Corporation, goes beyond merely introducing tools, adopting a four-stage accompaniment program with the goal of embedding practical application. By enhancing the appropriate utilization and risk management capabilities of generative AI in educational settings, we aim to provide even safer and more advanced educational services.
■ Background of the Training Implementation
1. By utilizing AI for a part of administrative tasks and document creation related to classroom operations, we want to secure more time for staff to engage with individual students.
2. We aim to utilize AI as a "tool to assist instruction," such as providing hints for教材作成 (curriculum development) and considering multifaceted explanation proposals, fostering ingenuity on the ground.
3. As an educational institution, we want to cultivate organizational-wide literacy to "safely and appropriately master" AI, correctly understanding information accuracy and security.
For these three reasons, we decided to implement the training.
In this endeavor, we invited HEROZ Corporation, which possesses high technical capabilities in developing Shogi AI and has extensive experience in social implementation, as an instructor. By incorporating their specialized knowledge, we were able to deeply understand both the convenience and risks of the technology and acquire practical skills useful in the field.
■ Implementation Details: School TOMAS Original Program
This program was conducted from January to March 2026. It is structured to progressively deepen proficiency through four phases: "Basic Understanding → Practical Exercises → Challenge Practice → Practical Feedback (Consolidation).
1. Basic Understanding Phase
Comprehensive input covering generative AI characteristics, risks, industry examples, and decision-making criteria. The aim is to foster a state where each participant can "somewhat" envision how to use AI in their work. After the training, a model case for the next training session is designed through questionnaires and discussions with the administrative office.
2. Practical Exercises Phase
Through practical demonstrations aligned with actual business scenarios, participants experience the practical application of generative AI and its current limitations. They confirm that it can be utilized not only for efficiency but also for "quality improvement" and "strengthening proposal capabilities." After the training, practical challenges are set by department and level through questionnaires and discussions with the administrative office.
3. Challenge Practice Phase
Participants first experience the behavior of generative AI by directly implementing the demonstration content. Then, they devise instructions and input information to independently master how to improve the "quality" of the output. Trials and questions from the field are gathered via questionnaires, and the content of the next FB session is designed through discussions with the administrative office.
4. Practical Feedback (Consolidation) Phase
This phase organizes common difficulties and difficult judgment points encountered in the field. It reinforces essential perspectives for practical application, such as how to interpret AI output, improve quality, and properly use different tools. Initiatives that are progressing in the field are praised and feedback is given to promote further consolidation across the entire organization.
■ Participant Feedback and Results
Participants provided the following feedback:
"I attended the AI training three times. As someone on the front lines of sales, how to utilize AI was a challenge. After the training, I focused on practicing diligently through trial and error. Now, by combining school information with actual visit history, I can create reports before visits and approach business negotiations well-prepared. I will continue to actively utilize it."
"I learned the know-how to realize ideas like 'Can AI do something like this!?', which was very helpful in solving current business challenges. Also, not only did I learn how to use it, but I also received training that emphasized literacy, so I believe our team can now utilize AI to minimize risks and maximize time efficiency going forward."
"Through concrete examples like hallucinations and information leakage, I was able to understand the risks of using generative AI. I also learned about specific usage methods in the education industry, which involves routine tasks, and gained a clear image of its application. Since results change with even small adjustments in instructions, I want to leverage the learned prompt engineering techniques to utilize generative AI in my work and achieve greater efficiency."
