Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces La Vallée des Merveilles™, a new series of limited capsule collections dedicated to Métiers Rares™ timepieces. Over time, La Vallée des Merveilles™ will celebrate the infinite beauty and myriad facets of nature's diversity, from the world's last remaining pristine wilderness to the artistry of the most beautiful gardens. The capsule collections will be selected from various lines, expressing the wonders of the natural world through the exceptional know-how of the Maison's Métiers Rares™ atelier.

The first capsule collection of La Vallée des Merveilles™ consists of three new Reverso One models that pay homage to the natural beauty of Hawaii and Japan. Housed in 18K pink gold or white gold cases, the new models fuse the codes of fine watchmaking with artistic crafts such as enamel, paillonné enamel decoration, gem setting, and lacquering, and are presented in a limited edition of 20 pieces each.

The Spirit of La Vallée des Merveilles™

Nestled in the quiet Vallée de Joux, Jaeger-LeCoultre has always drawn inspiration from the beauty of nature. Whether it is the wild nature of the forest or the manicured nature of a garden, the natural workings that mark the seasons have a special meaning for watchmakers. Because it is the embodiment of time itself.

Inspired by this unique environment, La Vallée des Merveilles™ pays tribute to the power of natural beauty. From the wild nature of the world to the delicate complexity of a single flower, and from the exquisite chaos of wild nature to the orderly design of a garden, this beauty evokes a sense of wonder and tranquility.

Throughout the ages, artists, philosophers, and poets have sought to capture the impact of natural beauty on the human spirit. La Vallée des Merveilles™ honors and perpetuates this enduring artistic legacy through the skills of the Métiers Rares™ artisans in its own workshops.

The first limited capsule collection of the La Vallée des Merveilles™ series, unveiled at Watches and Wonders in Geneva, adds three new Métiers Rares™ watches to the Reverso One collection, celebrating the tropical richness of Hawaii's Kauai island, known as the 'Garden Isle', and the delicate flora of Hokkaido, Japan.

Hawaii's Tropical Brilliance

Hawaii is a great source of inspiration for untouched nature. On islands pushed up from the sea by volcanic activity, lava fields meet lush rainforests, and waterfalls cascade down ancient cliffs. The earth feels alive and constantly evolving, reminding us that nature is not static but possesses fierce creativity. Jaeger-LeCoultre's designers used their imagination to recreate this place in a way that transcends reality through two Métiers Rares™ expressions.

The reverse side of the Reverso One Hibiscus Syriacus depicts a magical scene of an 'akialoa bird sipping nectar from a blue hibiscus flower while hovering in the air.

The painting is composed of two separate sections arranged on two levels. On the background level representing the sky, undulating engraved lines add visual depth beneath multiple layers of vibrant blue lacquer applied to separate components. On the upper level, birds and flowers are rendered entirely in Grand Feu champlevé enamel directly onto hollowed-out sections of the case metal and fired at up to 800°C. In this pinnacle technique, the enameler fuses two methods. The bird is depicted in a miniature painting using 9 colors of oxide pigments, while the leaves are created by layering multiple coats of transparent and opaque enamel. The gradation is created by a combination of 10 different enamel colors, and the lower hibiscus pistil is highlighted with paillonné enamel decoration using 24K gold leaf. Once completed, the two sections are pieced together with flawless precision like a mosaic.
