Comment from Toru Matsushima, Representative Director, Japan Anger Management Association

Since its establishment, our association has consistently confronted the emotion of "anger." Anger is not something to be eliminated or denied. It is a natural and important human emotion that arises from the desire to protect what is important to oneself.

However, not knowing how to handle it can complicate human relationships, leading to unnecessary conflict and division in the workplace, home, and local communities. We have always conveyed the importance of understanding and appropriately managing anger, rather than suppressing it.

And through that journey, something has become clear. To skillfully manage the emotion of anger, it is not enough to focus only on anger. Recognizing positive emotions such as daily joy, peace of mind, gratitude, and a sense of accomplishment, and adjusting one's mental state, is also essential for a rich life.

With that in mind, we are issuing this declaration here.
