Resonac Holdings Corporation (Hidehito Takahashi, Representative Director, President, and CEO; hereinafter "the Company") is working to promote the social acceptance of carbon nanotubes (hereinafter "CNTs") in cooperation with external organizations.
The Nanotechnology Business Creation Initiative (hereinafter "NBCI") issued a position paper in January 2026 in response to the proposal by the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (hereinafter "BAuA").
In its position paper, NBCI points out that BAuA's proposal to "uniformly group fibrous substances using the World Health Organization's definition* when evaluating regulatory measures and risks for fibrous substances" lacks scientific basis for regulating diverse CNTs based solely on their shape and size. Furthermore, NBCI expresses concern that CNTs are indispensable materials in a wide range of industries, and this regulation could prevent European citizens and the international community from fully enjoying many benefits. Based on these points, NBCI strongly urges for continued discussions based on scientific evidence.
The Company agrees with the purpose of this position paper and will cooperate in disseminating its content.
