LGBT Marriage Counseling Service Rizilai Renovates Website and Adopts the Term 'OnnaOnna Konkatsu' (Female-Female Matchmaking)

Rizilai, an LGBT marriage counseling service that provides partner introduction services for those seeking to spend their lives together as same-sex partners, (Operated by: Rizilai Inc., Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), has recently renovated its website for its female-female encounter support service and will now adopt the term 'OnnaOnna Konkatsu' (Female-Female Matchmaking).

This renovation is our statement of intent to treat encounters between women with the same weight as marriage.

■ Through Our Journey So Far

Since our founding in 2015, Rizilai has been assisting individuals who wish to spend their lives together as same-sex partners under the law.

 

In this journey, we have repeatedly encountered earnest and heartfelt desires such as:

"I want to meet a partner I can spend my life with."

"I want to build a relationship where we can consider our future."         

"I want to live together as a family."

As of March 2026, over 500 couples have been formed and have graduated from Rizilai.

On the other hand, we have felt hesitant to use terms like "marriage counseling service" or "konkatsu" (matchmaking/marriage hunting) to express these serious encounters.

This is because, despite the spread of partnership systems by municipalities, same-sex couples are still legally unable to marry in Japan.

The term "konkatsu" itself has traditionally been used in contexts assuming heterosexual couples. In such a reality, we felt using this term was not aligned with the current situation.

■ Reasons for Using the Term 'OnnaOnna Konkatsu'

Nevertheless, we have decided to adopt the term 'OnnaOnna Konkatsu' (Female-Female Matchmaking).

This is because, by engaging with our users, we have become convinced that each of these encounters is by no means a trivial matter, but a serious choice that impacts one's life itself.

Precisely because we live in a world where marriage equality (same-sex marriage) has not been realized, through Rizilai's services, we will continue to treat the encounters, relationships, and partnerships between users with the same weight and seriousness as legal marriage.

We will continue to support women who genuinely desire a life with another woman and earnestly choose a life living as women, more sincerely than ever before.
