Civic Creative Base Tokyo [CCBT] (hereinafter, CCBT), a hub for activating people's creativity in society through art and digital technology, is seeking participants for its short-term intensive workshop, "Future Ideations Camp Vol.8: Imagining Fashion 30 Years from Now."

This program is a five-day camp that uses "fashion," the interface closest to our bodies, as a starting point to imagine our future.

Approximately 20 selected participants will engage in collaborative group production while learning thinking and expression methods through lectures and workshops by instructors with diverse expertise. A talk event and an exhibition of outcomes will also be held during the period, with the process and results widely shared with the public.

As Director, we welcome Hiroshi Ashida, Professor at the Faculty of Design, Kyoto Seika University, specializing in fashion theory. In addition, practitioners with diverse expertise, ranging from engineering and anthropology to views on life and death, will serve as instructors. Through lectures and workshops by each instructor, we will unravel "fashion," which is layered with multiple complex meanings. Furthermore, through co-creation via group work, we will challenge ourselves to create new expressions that will transform society 30 years from now.

Fashion is established through an extremely broad and impersonal network, from the plants and animals that are the source of its materials, to the labor in production processes such as cultivation, spinning, and sewing, and further to distribution, consumption, and disposal. When we reframe clothing not merely as a means of expressing individual identity, but as a "complex layer" where diverse stakeholders intersect, we can imagine the background hidden within a single garment. A single piece of clothing, while closest to our bodies, is intimately connected to numerous macro-level issues.

This camp begins by imagining the macro-level background from a single piece of clothing and extends that imagination to the future, 30 years from now. What kind of clothes will we be wearing in 30 years? What kind of society will we be living in, wearing those clothes?
