The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture, Arts Council Tokyo, are implementing the "International Dispatch Program for Art Management Professionals," which dispatches young art management professionals who will play a role in connecting artists and society in the future, to overseas festivals and other events for a short period.
For the second round in fiscal year 2026, participants will be dispatched to the Gwangju Biennale (Korea), one of Asia's leading international contemporary art exhibitions. Ho Tzu Nyen will serve as the artistic director, attracting attention as the first artist to be appointed. In addition, visits to the large-scale art fairs Kiaf SEOUL and Frieze Seoul, which will be held simultaneously in Seoul, are also planned.
We welcome applications from young art management professionals who aspire to international careers.
(In fiscal year 2026, dispatch to a total of 7 regions is planned.)
- Destination: The 16th Gwangju Biennale, Seoul
■ Purpose
The purpose is to dispatch participants in conjunction with the Gwangju Biennale, Kiaf SEOUL, and Frieze Seoul to experience contemporary art trends and the world-class art market, and to build international networks with art professionals from various countries.
■ Examples of Activities during Stay
Participation in Biennale tours, visits to galleries and museums, market visits, talk programs, and reception parties, etc.
- Dispatch Period: September 2 to September 8, 2026 (tentative) (Maximum 7 nights stay on-site)
- Number of Dispatched Personnel: Approximately 3 people
- Target Applicants: Primarily young curators, directors, and art professionals involved in visual arts.
