Message from Director Misato Takagishi
While there are many types of 'opera,' 'Il Trovatore' is undoubtedly one of the supreme examples of the 'blood-pumping, flesh-stirring' kind! The maestro Verdi, often called the King of Opera, excelled at depicting deep human dramas using powerful melodies, and around the time he composed this work, he also seemed fascinated by eerie subjects. Although the plot is an intense drama of love and hate, this work, which was a bit eerie, exotic, and somewhat new, was a huge hit in Italy at the time, receiving great acclaim. At the climax, by deliberately leaving a slight mystery unresolved and using music as an ally, it delivers a sudden shock. By doing so, it achieved a novel technique of leaving the audience bewildered in the world of the play. Truly a maestro!
This time, an unparalleled group of wonderful soloists has gathered. They will powerfully showcase the true essence of the maestro's music. Please also look forward to the orchestras and choruses, which will have different colors at each venue. And, together with a staff full of artistic sensibility, I would like to present the 'true face' of this masterpiece, not by transforming it with heavy makeup, but by fully utilizing its inherent charm. 'Il Trovatore,' composed over 170 years ago and still completely vibrant... I guarantee it will be an exciting stage, unique to opera. A story of blood-bound destiny where melodies of love and flames of hatred intertwine! Please come and witness it with your own eyes. We await you at the theater!!
