Rehab for JAPAN Co., Ltd. Leveraging this investment and the insights Ono Pharmaceutical and the Company have developed through prior discussions, the Company will begin business development aimed at building a healthcare service platform starting from exercise oncology. Background and Objectives Japan already has approximately 3.5 million cancer survivors, and around 1 million people are newly diagnosed with cancer each year. Advances in medicine have raised the five-year survival rate to 64.1%, and cancer care is shifting toward an era in which life after treatment must also be addressed. In this context, physical decline and challenges in daily functioning associated with cancer treatment are known to have a major impact on patients’ quality of life. Research in Japan and overseas has demonstrated the importance of exercise and rehabilitation in addressing these issues, and exercise oncology has been attracting increasing global attention in recent years. Future Initiatives The companies will consider collaboration in the following areas. Exercise support services in oncology: The Company will study services that allow cancer patients to receive appropriate exercise guidance that is easy to continue in daily life, supported by rehabilitation professionals who understand cancer. Through this service, the Company aims to address concerns related to declining physical strength among outpatients under follow-up observation or undergoing chemotherapy, and to improve quality of life and activities of daily living. Promoting understanding of exercise oncology: Through collaboration with related companies, healthcare professionals, and patients, the Company will work to promote understanding of the concept and importance of exercise oncology. The aim is to create an environment in which exercise support becomes a more natural option in both clinical settings and daily life.
