## Summary of Activities in FY2025

In FY2025, REALs operated in five regions—Gaza, Syria, South Sudan, Afghanistan, and Turkey—delivering support to a total of 43,049 people.

In the area of "Emergency Assistance to Sustain Lives in Crisis," food was delivered to 3,963 households (23,428 people) in Gaza, including internally displaced persons and female-headed households, amid ongoing combat. In Afghanistan, in response to a magnitude 6.3 earthquake in August-September 2025, REALs distributed winter supplies such as heaters and blankets to 6,052 people (1,020 households) living in tents in steep mountainous areas. Mobile clinics were also established, providing medical services to 976 people. Maternal and child health services were provided to women and children for whom consulting male doctors is difficult due to cultural and religious backgrounds. Furthermore, REALs facilitated the evacuation and survival support for 100 individuals, including former government officials, women activists, and journalists fleeing persecution by the Taliban regime.

In "Support for Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding," REALs conducted conflict resolution training for 78 youth and women among displaced persons and local residents in South Sudan (35 of whom were trained as instructors to pass knowledge to the next generation). Thirty trained community mediators handled 2,003 cases through regular patrols, achieving a 92% prevention and resolution rate. Awareness-raising activities on violence and conflict prevention were also conducted, with 393 residents acquiring knowledge on conflict prevention.

In Turkey, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), REALs conducted capacity-building training on multi-ethnic coexistence and peacebuilding for 284 people, including farmers, cooperatives, and government and private organizations. In collaboration with UN Women, REALs developed "Gender-Responsive Disaster Prevention Guidelines" leveraging Japanese disaster response expertise and strengthened the capacity of 15 civil society organizations involved in recovery and women's support.

In Syria, for the first time following the collapse of the Assad regime in late 2024, REALs implemented "Conflict Prevention and Conflict Resolution Mediator Training." Thirty mediators identified and addressed conflicts and problems faced by 883 residents.

*Final support numbers will be confirmed in the FY2025 Annual Report (scheduled for release at the end of June 2026).
