Our farm, which has been working with horses for four generations in Hidaka, Hokkaido, is a small family-run breeding farm. We have continued careful breeding based on the belief that "Even if they don't have an elite pedigree, there is a place where they can shine if we polish the individuality of each horse."
We were chosen as a filming location for the drama "The Royal Family" broadcast in 2025, and two of our farm's horses were selected as "actor horses." On set, their fearless personalities and high adaptability were praised, receiving high acclaim from actors and production staff. After the drama aired, we saw interest from demographics previously unfamiliar with horse racing, showing a spread different from the past.
The two horses that appeared in the drama originally had a buyer lined up, and preparations were complete to send them off to their new environment. However, due to changes in the buyer's business situation, the contract was passed over at the very last minute. It is extremely difficult to find a new buyer for racehorses at the age of 2, just before their debut. We do not want to close off the potential of these two horses, who showed such a desperate will to live on screen, due to economic reasons. With this singular thought, Representative Naohiro Fujimoto decided to take responsibility as an owner himself and send them to the racetrack.
This challenge is a step to prevent horses with such potential from "ending without getting a chance." Together with these two horses, we want to prove that horses from Hidaka, entities known as "weeds," can challenge and compete with horses called elites.
