Rémy Cointreau Japan Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo / General Manager Xavier Tarro) announced that Maison Telmont, a champagne house it handles, has been selected as the official champagne for the Cannes Film Festival for the sixth consecutive year.

Maison Telmont, which has been earnestly dedicated to nature and champagne production for over a century and four generations, with "In the Name of Mother Nature" as the guiding principle for all its activities, has been highly praised for its philosophy and sustainable initiatives, leading to its selection as the official champagne for the Cannes Film Festival for the sixth consecutive year. At various scenes and related events symbolizing the film festival, Telmont's representative cuvée, "Réserve Brut," will be served, creating a glamorous atmosphere.

Participation in the Cannes Film Festival is an important opportunity for Maison Telmont to disseminate its philosophy, "In the Name of Mother Nature." We will share our vision of exceptional champagne crafted with the utmost respect for the environment, foster creativity, promote meaningful initiatives, and reaffirm the Maison's commitment alongside those who place the environment at the heart of their activities.

Telmont's historic cuvée, "Réserve Brut," embodies the distinctive Telmont style, combining lightness and richness. It is a blend of Chardonnay, Meunier, and Pinot Noir, the three representative grape varieties of Champagne, characterized by fine bubbles and a exquisite balance of tension and freshness. This cuvée fully expresses the elegance of the Champagne terroir.

"When we discovered Champagne Telmont, we were captivated by its sincerity and elegance. It is truly a testament to a great wine. We were also impressed by the strong will of this small Maison with great ambition, never following others, and its commitment to its beliefs. Telmont is forging its own path, much like 'authorship' in the world of cinema. Indeed, here we have 'the author's champagne.'"
—Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival

"Cannes is the world's premier film festival! We are delighted to once again be involved in this festival and to continue to spread our message 'In the Name of Mother Nature.' We, too, as champagne producers, consider ourselves creators with our own unique philosophy. To celebrate 'cinéma d’auteur' (author's cinema) as honored at the film festival, Telmont also creates 'Champagne d’auteur' (author's champagne) imbued with respect for nature and its unique philosophy."
—Ludovic du Plessis, President of Maison Telmont

◆ About Maison Telmont

Champagne Telmont was founded in 1912 by Henri Lhôpital in Damery, near Épernay, France, shortly after the Champagne riots. For over a century, the Maison has been a pioneer in the Champagne industry. While balancing innovation with the tradition of excellence that the Maison prides itself on, Telmont is now seeking to revolutionize its relationship with the Earth. We are implementing a unique vision to produce unparalleled champagne without compromising sustainability. This vision has been concretized since 2021 through the "In the Name of Mother Nature" project, which includes initiatives such as converting 100% of the Maison's and partner growers' vineyards to organic regenerative agriculture (currently 70% organically certified), protecting biodiversity, and significantly reducing carbon emissions to achieve net-zero by 2050.

Previously, initiatives included eliminating gift boxes and unnecessary packaging, developing the world's lightest bottle (800 grams) in partnership with a long-standing glass manufacturer, discontinuing the use of clear bottles (which do not use recycled glass) and custom bottles (over 900 grams), adopting transition glass (where the glass color gradually approaches transparency, and the recycled glass generated during this transition is reused), completely banning air transport, and utilizing renewable energy.

Telmont is supported by investors who share the same vision and belief in environmental responsibility. Among them is Rémy Cointreau, Telmont's main shareholder, who fully supports the Maison's commitment to sustainability and innovation, as well as investors and dedicated environmental activists.
