'Belle de Brillet' × Globally Acclaimed Cocktail Bar 'Torto': A One-Night-Only Special Guest Shift by Owner-Bartender José Mendes

Remy Cointreau Japan K.K. (Minato-ku, Tokyo / Representative Director Xavier Taro) will host a special guest shift event on Friday, April 24, at 1 Hotel Tokyo / NiNi Bar, inviting José Mendes, owner-bartender from 'Torto', a highly acclaimed cocktail bar leading Portugal's bar scene.

This event is set against the backdrop of 'NiNi', a contemporary dining concept inspired by the essence of the French Riviera. It centers around 'Belle de Brillet', a French liqueur made from 100% natural pear and cognac, which shares a high affinity with French culinary culture. A total of four types of cocktails using spirits and liqueurs, including 'Remy Martin VSOP', 'Cointreau', and 'Bruichladdich', will be offered as a special lineup available only on this day.

Based in Porto, Portugal, and gaining attention as a representative of new-wave cocktail bars, Torto has established its reputation with mixology that combines playfulness with solid techniques, offering meticulous yet free and contemporary cocktails. Highly regarded as one of Portugal's premier bars, it has received awards at the 'Lisbon Bar Show' and 'Mesa Marcada Awards', and was selected for the '50 Best Discovery', a global guide by 'The World's 50 Best'.

From this bar, owner-bartender José Mendes is visiting Japan. He won 'Best Young Talent' in 2018 and 'Best Bartender' at 'World Class Portugal' in 2019. Having been part of Torto since its opening, he pursues new expressions based on contemporary cocktail craft, utilizing an approach that combines creativity with discipline.
