Randstad K.K. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Chairman and CEO: Junnosuke Michigami, President: Satoshi Sarutani), a comprehensive human resources service provider, will hold the 'Randthon 2026 x Earth Day Plogging Challenge,' an environmental contribution event involving employees nationwide, from Monday, April 6 to Thursday, April 30, 2026, in commemoration of 'Global Earth Day' on April 22. 'Plogging' is a coined word combining the Swedish word for 'picking up' and 'jogging'. By picking up garbage together while running (or walking), we aim to simultaneously improve employee health and the global environment.
Taking on a New Form of Social Contribution - Aiming for 'Contribution to Local Communities' and 'Solidarity'
As part of our social contribution activities, Randstad annually holds a 'Charity Run & Walk' where donations are made based on the distance run or walked. This year, we decided to try a new company-wide initiative called 'Plogging.' Plogging, which involves picking up garbage while running or walking, is gaining global attention as sustainable fitness that improves both personal health and the environment. Through this activity, we will foster a sense of unity within the company and broadcast our commitment to the local communities where we work as a powerful visual story. This is also part of our ESG activities, having been selected for the DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability World Index) for 10 consecutive years.
2,026 Liters for the Future - Employees, Families, and Friends Unite to Clean the Streets
In this event, employees nationwide will cooperate with the goal of collecting a total of 2,026 liters of garbage. By quantifying the accumulation of each step, we visualize the degree of our environmental contribution. Participants will wear original Randstad t-shirts and freely set courses with their branches or teams to clean the streets. From the 'relaxed jog/walk group' who can enjoy chatting, to 'serious runners' who connect cleaning points at high speed, the format respects diversity, allowing participants to enjoy it at their own pace. For teams primarily working remotely, we also propose participating while communicating with each other via video calls. Nationwide activities will be captured in photos and videos and widely shared through SNS and other channels to build momentum for a sustainable society.
