Global luxury lifestyle brand Ralph Lauren hosted a Japan-US international cultural exchange event focused on fashion at the State Guest House, Akasaka Palace, on Friday, April 24, 2026, marking its 50th anniversary since its arrival in Japan in 1976.
The State Guest House, Akasaka Palace, is the only neo-baroque palace architecture in Japan and has been designated a National Treasure. This special venue, which has welcomed dignitaries from around the world and served as a stage for cultural exchange and diplomacy, was chosen for this event to symbolize Ralph Lauren's cherished traditions, dignity, and its spirit of connecting people across cultures and generations. A collection of classic cars, beloved by Ralph Lauren, greeted guests in front of the facade, creating a setting that symbolized the brand's aesthetic and heritage, orchestrating a special moment to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
This event, contributing to cultural exchange, invited celebrities and press, as well as students who will lead the next generation, business partners, and customers. In addition to screening a documentary depicting Ralph Lauren's world view and journey, panel discussions on fashion and culture were held. The first session featured Yuko Fujita, Associate Professor and sociologist at the University of Tokyo Graduate School; Katsuhito Tai, Executive Advisor to the Marie Claire Business Office; and Tiffany Godoy, Fashion Editor & Culture Strategist. The second session welcomed model Hikari Mori and fashion journalist Yoshiko Ikoma. Both sessions were hosted by David Lauren, son of brand founder Ralph Lauren and Chief Branding & Innovation Officer. They discussed fashion, culture, and a rich lifestyle for the future from their respective perspectives.
Attendees included (in Japanese syllabary order): Tadanobu Asano, Takako Arai, UTA, Yukiko Kashiwagi Rinko Kikuchi, KIKUNO, Tamiyo Kusakari, Ai Sugiyama Christel Takigawa, Etsushi Toyokawa, Ayami Nakajo, Jun Hasegawa Rila Fukushima, Hikari Mori, Ken Watanabe, Atsuro Watabe
