Rakuten Card App Now Supports iPhone My Number Card for Identity Verification During First Use of Card Number Display Service

Rakuten Card Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") announced today, May 7th (Thursday), that it will begin offering easy and secure identity verification using iPhone's My Number Card for the card number display service in the iOS version of the "Rakuten Card App" (hereinafter referred to as "this app"). The card number display service is a feature that allows users to easily and securely check their card number, security code, and other details even when they don't have their physical card on hand, by tapping "View Card Number" on the Rakuten Card app's home screen and authenticating with Face ID or Touch ID. When card members use the card number display service in this app, they can complete identity verification easily and securely within the app by using their My Number Card added to Apple Wallet for initial identity verification, thereby shortening the operation time compared to conventional methods. When presenting their iPhone's My Number Card in this app, card members can tap the "Verify with Apple Wallet" button to pre-confirm the information to be disclosed. This information is shared after the card member authenticates with Face ID or Touch ID, making identity verification easy and secure within this app. Apple products are designed to give users control over their information and protect their privacy. Identity cards in Apple Wallet provide a secure way to add and use mobile identity documents, while offering security and privacy benefits that are not possible with physical identity documents. Users can review what information will be disclosed each time, and that information is shared after authentication with Face ID or Touch ID. Information about the presentation, such as when, where, and what information the user disclosed, is encrypted and stored only on the user's device.
