Rakuten Card Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Rakuten Card") and ACSiON Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "ACSiON") will introduce a warning function to prevent damage from phishing fraud starting today, May 1, 2026 (Friday). This function will display a warning screen to customers suspected of having entered their Rakuten ID, password, credit card numbers, etc., on phishing fraud sites, thereby preventing damage.
In recent years, damage from unauthorized credit card use has expanded, with the total amount of unauthorized credit card use in 2025 reaching 51.05 billion yen, exceeding 50 billion yen for the third consecutive year (Note 1). Approximately 93.1% of this damage is due to card number theft, and among these, damage caused by phishing is increasing. Phishing is a method of defrauding personal information and credit card numbers through fake websites and emails, and its techniques are becoming increasingly sophisticated year by year. The number of reported phishing incidents in 2025 was approximately 2.45 million, an increase of about 740,000 from the previous year (Note 2).
In light of this background, Rakuten Card and ACSiON are introducing this function with the aim of protecting Rakuten Card customers from unauthorized use damage and preventing it in advance, leveraging their accumulated knowledge and technology. A warning screen will be displayed to customers suspected of having entered their Rakuten ID, password, credit card numbers, etc., on phishing fraud sites.
Since January 2025, Rakuten Card and ACSiON have been working to curb phishing damage by utilizing ACSiON's expertise. When ACSiON detects a phishing site impersonating Rakuten Card, they close the site and collaborate with browser providers to activate safe browsing features during the period until the site is closed. Rakuten Card and ACSiON will continue their efforts to reduce phishing damage so that customers can use their credit cards with peace of mind.
