The starting point of this project lies in the personal experiences and sauna philosophies of each staff member in charge.
The herbal sauna staff grew up familiar with herbs from a young age, in an environment where scents were always close by. Based on that experience, driven by the desire to deliver a unique experience as a "Netpashi" (sauna master), they shaped a sauna performance that utilizes the aroma of herbs.
The singing bowl staff, on the other hand, views sauna not merely as a time to confront heat, but as a time to quietly face oneself and reset mind and body.
In this project, by combining both approaches of scent and sound, we have connected them to a unique heat wave experience that is distinctively Karin no Yu.
2. Freshly picked fresh herbs from our own farm, made possible only at a farm resort
Ofuro Cafe Karin no Yu is a hot spring facility located within the vast nature of THE FARM farm resort, covering 100,000 sqm (equivalent to 2.5 Tokyo Domes). This environment allows for performances that utilize the fresh, vibrant aroma unique to freshly picked fresh herbs from our own farm, not just dried herbs.
The scent of fresh herbs gently rises with the steam, enveloping the sauna room in natural comfort. As the gentle aroma of the plants themselves spreads, it creates a unique farm resort space that makes you want to take a deep breath.
3. Overtones of singing bowls further deepen the scent experience
In this project, in addition to the aroma of herbs, the overtones of singing bowls are incorporated.
A singing bowl is an instrument whose long, gentle resonance spreads throughout the entire space.
In the sauna room, it creates a sensation of bathing in the sound with your whole body amidst the steam and heat, not just listening to it.
The natural aroma of fresh herbs opens up breathing, and the overtones of singing bowls quietly deepen consciousness.
When a gentle breeze is added, the sauna room transforms from "a place to enjoy heat" to "a place to achieve deep and quiet totonou."
