Our Dream: Building a Japan that Overcomes the Declining Birthrate with AI x Productivity Improvement

Japan's population is projected to shrink to approximately 87 million by 2070. A decrease in the workforce typically suggests a contraction in the economy.

However, we have a different answer. Even if the population shrinks to 80%, if productivity per person increases by 1.5 times, the overall GDP will expand.

Ragate's dream is to dramatically boost the productivity of companies across Japan by correctly utilizing AI, thereby overcoming the structural challenges of a declining birthrate and population decrease.

Building Japan's Future While Selling Picks and Shovels

Since our founding in 2017, with the mission of "democratizing cutting-edge technology," we have steadily built a track record, even in an era when many companies were still unfamiliar with cloud technology and serverless architecture.

Now that AI has rapidly spread, it is often compared to a "gold rush." Ragate indeed sells picks and shovels: supporting the construction of technical infrastructure centered on AWS, formulating AI utilization strategies, and system development.

But what we have aimed for is not just selling picks and shovels. We work together to figure out where to dig for gold, demonstrate the business value that will be created after mining as ROI, and continue to support customers' businesses to succeed even after they strike gold. That is the Ragate way.

Productivity Over Scale. Towards an Era Where SMBs Can Beat Large Enterprises

Until now, in the SI and consulting markets, company size and employee count were absolute competitive advantages. No matter how much small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) refined their technical capabilities, they couldn't overcome the barrier of sheer volume.

But now, that structure is about to change.

A world where a team of 10 people can achieve the results equivalent to 100 people has become a reality, provided the organization has truly cultivated AI-driven productivity improvement as a capability.

If this happens, opportunities will arise for SMBs to directly compete with large enterprises. Ragate's goal is to deliver the "how-to" of this to companies across Japan. Instead of selling the illusion that AI can solve everything, we design, implement, and establish truly meaningful technology utilization, starting from the customer's management challenges.

Towards Becoming Japan's No.1 Technology Partner

In fiscal year 2022, Ragate received the "Rising Star Partner of the Year – Japan" award at the AWS Partner Summit. We accept this title, awarded to only one company in Japan each year, as recognition of our efforts.

In 2024, our representative, Mashiko himself, was selected as an "AWS Top Engineer," and in 2025, we obtained AWS Advanced Tier certification. But awards are merely milestones.

My dream is for Ragate to become Japan's No.1 technology partner company. To correctly use AI and dramatically boost productivity. To create organizations that can compete with intelligence, not just scale, and to raise the overall productivity of Japan's IT industry. I believe that beyond this lies the answer to the structural challenges facing Japanese society.

While selling picks and shovels, I am building Japan's future. Ragate will continue to do this work.
