COMPASS Inc. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Jun Sato) announces that its AI-powered learning platform 'Qubena' has been officially adopted as part of the instructional framework in all municipal junior high schools in Tendō City, Yamagata Prefecture, with usage commencing in April 2026.
Tendō City, which has adopted the promotion of 'education to cultivate solid academic ability and adaptability' as one of its core educational policies, has been actively implementing various initiatives. As part of its efforts to 'enhance learning activities through educational digital transformation (DX)', the city has now formally adopted 'Qubena', deploying it across all five municipal junior high schools. Starting in April 2026, approximately 1,200 students from grades 7 to 9 have begun using the platform.
The city particularly expects Qubena to realize individualized, adaptive learning through AI, and to promote student-centered, proactive learning by integrating ICT into daily educational practice, further advancing overall learning activities.
Comment from Mr. Atsushi Tanaka, Superintendent of Tendō City Board of Education:
“In our city, we are committed to fostering solid academic ability and adaptability so that children can thrive in today’s uncertain and ambiguous world and become creators of their own futures. Amid rapid technological advancements such as globalization and ICT innovation, we aim to nurture individuals who can accurately perceive societal changes and overcome challenges through their own sensitivity and creativity.
This academic year, under the theme of 'delivering the joy of learning to every child,' we are working to create lessons where each student is the subject of their own learning. We aim to enhance the well-being of students, educators, and the entire community by fostering education where students learn with excitement, make their own choices, and collaborate in learning.
Through pilot implementation in municipal junior high schools last year and feedback from students and staff, we evaluated the usability and learning effectiveness of Qubena. As a result, we determined it to be an effective tool for providing tailored learning support based on each student’s proficiency level, leading to its official adoption.
Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen learning by integrating Qubena into classroom instruction and home study, including pre-learning activities, to further develop students’ academic abilities.
COMPASS will continue striving to contribute to the wider adoption of ICT in public education, aiming to be a leading company that delivers 'personalized learning' to every child without leaving anyone behind through the continued provision of Qubena.
