Highlights: "Art as a Personal Whereabouts"
Drawing pictures is the most honest record indicating how that person viewed the world.
At Quadrivium Ostium, we are holding exhibitions under the theme of the "Art as a Personal Whereabouts" series as a new attempt to shed light on the private works of Sunday painters buried in the world.
There are many people in the world who paint pictures not for commercial purposes, but as an expression of hobbies or personal passions. Most of such works are never opened to the public and remain buried. Under the current situation, when the creator passes away, they are neither donated to museums nor disposed of, but often left in the hands of the bereaved family. Our gallery is attempting to unearth works that are considered to have high artistic value from among such works of the deceased, and to cast a new light by opening them to the world. For society, it provides an opportunity to discover new artists, and for the bereaved family, it brings an opportunity to rediscover the thoughts and artistry of the deceased.
Furthermore, in terms of art, by exhibiting art that was created for extremely personal purposes, completely unrelated to commercial or speculative purposes, and originally not intended to be appreciated by others, we ask again "what art is" inherently derived from human beings through the experience where the passion of the creator and the empathy of others who are the viewers intersect.
