Kyukamura Ibusuki Offers Free June Minibus Tours to Lake Ikeda and Mount Kaimon View Spots

Kyukamura Ibusuki, a resort hotel located inside Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park in Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture, will operate free minibus tours for overnight guests on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in June. The tour visits Lake Ikeda and Mount Kaimon, two of Ibusuki’s best-known sightseeing spots. Lake Ikeda, Kyushu’s largest caldera lake, is an excellent viewpoint for Mount Kaimon. Nishi-Oyama Station, the southernmost JR station in Japan, is also recommended as a photo spot with a direct view of the majestic mountain. Guests can enjoy early-summer Ibusuki, when sunflowers begin to bloom, through this bus tour around Lake Ikeda and Mount Kaimon. Lake Ikeda is Kyushu’s largest caldera lake, measuring 15 km in circumference and 233 m in depth. Seasonal flowers are planted along the lakeside, and the view of Mount Kaimon across the lake attracts many visitors. From around June, sunflowers begin blooming by the lake, adding vivid color against the blue of Lake Ikeda. Mount Kaimon, also known as Satsuma Fuji for its elegant conical shape, is one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains and a symbol of Ibusuki. The 924 m mountain has a gently spiraling trail, making it suitable for a wide range of climbers. The “Kaimon View and Sunflower Field Minibus Tour” runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in June 2026. It is free of charge and limited to 10 participants. The schedule is: depart Kyukamura at 10:10, arrive at Lake Ikeda at 11:00 for a 10-minute stop, arrive at Nishi-Oyama Station at 11:25 for a 10-minute stop, arrive at Ibusuki Station at 11:50, and return to Kyukamura at 12:05. Kyukamura Ibusuki is also offering a seasonal special dinner, “Kagoshima Eel and Kuroge Wagyu Lava-Grill Shabu-Shabu × Half Buffet.” Kagoshima’s signature summer delicacy is eel, for which the prefecture boasts Japan’s highest production volume. The course includes a selection of eel dishes such as uzaku, umaki, shirayaki, and hitsumabushi. It also features summer local fish sashimi and Kagoshima Kuroge Wagyu served refreshingly as lava-grill shabu-shabu. The hotel’s half buffet includes colorful small-plate dishes, salads made with local vegetables, freshly fried satsuma-age, and silver-stripe round herring tempura. The popular “Night Dessert Takeout” service lets guests bring sweets and coffee from the half buffet back to their room or terrace. The special dinner is available from June 1 to August 31, 2026. Rates start from 21,000 yen per person for one night with two meals, tax included and bathing tax excluded, based on two guests sharing an ocean-side Japanese-style room on weekdays.
