Toast the Wakayama way with daily changing plum wine and plum drinks before dinner!

Kyukamura Nanki-Katsuura (Location: Ukui, Nachikatsuura-cho, Higashimuro-gun, Wakayama Prefecture; Manager: Yasuhiro Kawakatsu), a resort hotel located in Yoshino-Kumano National Park, will implement a limited-time "Umeshu One-Shot Bar" for guests from Monday, May 11.

◆Wakayama's unique ordinance that changes "Beer for now" to "Plum wine first!"

In Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, one of the leading plum-producing areas in the prefecture, the "Umeshu de Kanpai Ordinance" was enacted in 2013. This ordinance aims to expand plum consumption by encouraging toasts with plum wine and plum juice made from Kishu plums, and actively promoting plum products such as umeboshi. It also seeks to further establish the Kishu plum brand, promote and develop plum-related industries, revitalize the region, and maintain and improve the health of citizens. It is a unique Wakayama toast culture that changes the phrase "Beer for now!" at banquets and drinking occasions to "Plum wine first."
