Nagoya City, the Chubu Regional Committee of the Paper Recycling Promotion Center, and the Chubu Paper Stock Association have signed an agreement regarding awareness-raising activities to promote the separation and collection of paper containers, packaging, and 'zatsugami' (miscellaneous paper). By working together, the three parties aim to further promote the circulation of paper resources through awareness activities that encourage behavioral changes in every citizen.

Combustible waste discharged from households still contains a large amount of paper that can be recycled. Among this, 'zatsugami' is an important paper resource that can be effectively utilized if separated; however, it is often not recognized as a resource in daily life and is frequently disposed of as combustible waste.

In light of this situation, the three parties—Nagoya City, the Chubu Regional Committee of the Paper Recycling Promotion Center, and the Chubu Paper Stock Association—have decided to collaborate on awareness-raising activities to promote the separation and collection of paper containers, packaging, and miscellaneous paper.

The Paper Recycling Promotion Center emphasizes creating a system that encourages behavioral change through citizen-participatory awareness-raising, rather than viewing paper recycling merely as a sorting action. The circulation of paper resources is an initiative that leads to the reduction of combustible waste, the effective use of resources, and the realization of a decarbonized society.

The Center aims to build a 'Regional Circular and Ecological Sphere Model' that promotes regional resource circulation and environmental awareness, starting with paper recycling. This agreement is positioned as one of the concrete regional practices of this model.

Nagoya City is advancing resource circulation initiatives through the collaboration of citizens, businesses, and the administration. Through this agreement, the city will complement its awareness-raising activities and promote the creation of a system where citizens can proactively participate in resource circulation.

Specifically, the three parties will collaborate on planning and implementing awareness activities regarding the separation and collection of paper containers, packaging, and miscellaneous paper; promoting participatory and experiential awareness activities in cooperation with educational institutions, local organizations, and businesses; and disseminating information regarding these activities.

Through this agreement, the three parties will leverage their respective roles to expand paper resource circulation initiatives, thereby contributing to the realization of a sustainable circular society.
