Nagoya City and Paper Recycling Organizations Sign Agreement to Create a Regional Circular Symbiotic Society through Mixed Paper Separation and Collection

Nagoya City, the Chubu District Committee of the Paper Recycling Promotion Center, and the Chubu Paper Raw Material Commercial Cooperative have signed an agreement concerning awareness activities to promote the separation and collection of paper packaging and mixed paper. The three parties will collaborate to further promote paper resource circulation through awareness activities that encourage behavioral changes among individual citizens.

Combustible waste discharged from households still contains a large amount of recyclable paper. Among these, "mixed paper" is an important paper resource that can be effectively utilized as a resource if separated, but in daily life, it is often not recognized as a resource and is disposed of as combustible waste.

In light of this situation, Nagoya City, the Chubu District Committee of the Paper Recycling Promotion Center, and the Chubu Paper Raw Material Commercial Cooperative have decided to collaborate on awareness activities to promote the separation and collection of paper packaging and mixed paper.

The Paper Recycling Promotion Center emphasizes creating mechanisms that encourage behavioral change through citizen-participatory awareness, rather than simply viewing paper recycling as a sorting activity. Paper resource circulation is an initiative that leads to the reduction of combustible waste, effective utilization of resources, and the realization of a decarbonized society.

The Center aims to build a "Regional Circular Symbiotic Society Model" that promotes regional resource circulation and improves environmental awareness, starting with paper recycling. This agreement is positioned as one of its concrete regional practices.

Nagoya City is promoting resource circulation initiatives through collaboration among citizens, businesses, and administration. Through this agreement, while complementing awareness activities, the city will advance the creation of mechanisms that allow citizens to actively participate in resource circulation.

Specifically, the three parties will collaborate on planning and implementing awareness activities related to the separation and collection of paper packaging and mixed paper, promoting participatory and experiential awareness activities in cooperation with educational institutions, local organizations, businesses, and disseminating information related to awareness activities.

Through this agreement, the three parties will leverage their respective roles to collaborate and expand initiatives for paper resource circulation, contributing to the realization of a sustainable circular society.
