FUNCOM®, developer and publisher of 'Conan Exiles', the online survival game set in the world of Conan the Barbarian, announced today, in collaboration with Inflexion Games, the free upgrade 'Conan Exiles Enhanced'. This marks a massive visual overhaul for one of the most content-rich survival games available.

To celebrate the 8th anniversary of 'Conan Exiles' on Friday, May 8, 2026, 'Conan Exiles Enhanced' will be provided as a free gift on Tuesday, May 5, not only to current Steam players but also to former players and everyone who will play in the future.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, 'Conan Exiles Enhanced' transforms 8 years of post-launch content into a fully upgraded experience through dramatically improved visuals, enhanced performance, and modern rendering techniques. This revitalizes the harsh world of Conan, offering deeper immersion for both new players and long-time fans.

The new version, empowered by Unreal Engine 5, targets smooth gameplay at 60FPS or higher across Low, Medium, High, and Ultra settings on many PC configurations, and achieves high performance on the Steam Deck as well.

For the first time, players who own the expansion 'Conan Exiles: Isle of Siptah' will be able to travel freely between the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah. The two regions are integrated into one continuous experience, allowing players to fully explore both without having to choose one or the other at the start of the game. In multiplayer, all servers will support both maps simultaneously. This massively expands the playable area available to 'Isle of Siptah' owners.

"Conan has been at the heart of Funcom for nearly 20 years. And with the new Enhanced upgrade, Conan Exiles continues to carve its legacy in video games," said Joel Bylos, Chief Creative Officer at Funcom. "We understand that upgrades like this are often sold for a fee or released as a separate enhanced product. However, we wanted to offer it for free to our past, present, and future fans as an anniversary gift and a token of our gratitude for their support over the years. We are incredibly proud of this game and the work the team has poured into it over the years. We hope this upgrade breathes new life and vitality into the game for a long time to come."

"We are honored to collaborate with Funcom on upgrading Conan Exiles to Unreal Engine 5. Updating such a beloved game with new technology, materials and shaders, UI, and broad quality of life (QoL) improvements creates a new foundation for the next decade of adventures for players worldwide," said Aaryn Flynn, CEO of Inflexion Games.

Since its launch on May 8, 2018, over 15 million players have explored the savage lands of 'Conan Exiles'. It is a critically acclaimed survival game set in the legendary world of Robert E. Howard.

'Conan Exiles Enhanced' will be released as a free upgrade for all Steam users on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. While there are currently no plans to bring this upgrade to consoles, the Epic Games Store, or the Windows PC Store, Funcom and Inflexion are exploring releases on these platforms in the future.
