The rapid evolution of generative AI has brought about a major transition in working styles, required skills, and organizational structures. In response to these changes, HR is being called upon to take on new roles beyond traditional system management.

Background of the Series Planning
The relationship between companies and individuals is undergoing significant change due to the diversification of values, the growing emphasis on career autonomy, and the widespread adoption of generative AI. We are transitioning from an era where "companies provide careers" to one where "individuals proactively build their own careers." In this context, HR is expected to support these changes and contribute to organizational value creation.
However, many companies are facing challenges such as: ・Uncertainty about how to utilize AI ・Difficulty in redefining talent requirements ・Not knowing how to support career autonomy
This series was produced with the aim of organizing the essential roles of HR in the AI era and providing practical insights to address these challenges.

Chiharu Takakura
Joined the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1983. Studied abroad at Georgetown University as a Fulbright Scholar in 1990, obtaining an MBA in 1992. From 1993, worked at Sanwa Research Institute, focusing on organizational development and human resource development related to organizational restructuring and new business implementation. Held positions including HR Department Manager at Pfizer from 1999, Head of Human Resources and Organization at Novartis Pharma from 2006, and General Manager of Global HR at Ajinomoto from 2014, where she built and deployed global HR systems. Became a Director at Rohto Pharmaceutical in 2020 and CHRO in 2022. Since 2022, she has served as an Outside Director and Chair of the Sustainability Committee at NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd. From 2023, she has been an Outside Director at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company and Nomura Real Estate Holdings, Inc. She engages in strategic HR initiatives that look towards the company's future management direction and promotes the development of diverse next-generation talent.

As discussed in this series, "career ownership," where individuals proactively build their careers, and the supporting organizational and HR structures are becoming increasingly important in the AI era.
The Association offers the "Protean Career AI Foundation Course & Certification" as a foundational program to adapt to these changes. This program is a certified qualification that allows participants to systematically learn the concepts and practical methods of career development in the AI era, based on the Protean Career theory, which is gaining attention in the career industry. Furthermore, through AI diagnostics, individuals can visualize their career capital and design concrete action plans.
