Promoting Initiatives to Expand the Medical Potential of Scent from the Region

After graduating from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Agriculture and gaining sales experience at Suntory Co., Ltd., Mr. Tsuzuki obtained his doctorate from the University of Tokyo Graduate School. He has served as the principal of the Kanto Judo Therapy College and president of Nihon Pharmaceutical University, and has handled over 100 collaborative projects with municipalities, companies, universities, and high schools. His wealth of knowledge will be a great asset to the Company in enhancing the social value of scent.

In recent years, the functionality of scent, such as its relaxation effects and support for cognitive function, has attracted attention, and research in the medical and pharmaceutical fields is intensifying. The Company has established a Scent Technology Research Institute in Saitama City and, with its strengths in thorough quality control and safety, has been promoting the use of scent together with companies and municipalities.

By combining Mr. Tsuzuki's expertise with the Company's scent technology, we will enhance the functionality of scent more scientifically and connect it to regional collaboration initiatives starting from Saitama City. Moving forward, we will conduct research and verification on the effects of scent on relaxation and cognitive function, create new value for scent, and contribute to the revitalization of local communities.

Furthermore, based on these findings, we will develop a service that provides integrated scent design, implementation, and effectiveness verification for companies and municipalities.

*The Company is a regular member of the Japan Flavor & Fragrance Materials Association (the only member from the space fragrance industry), which is the Japanese affiliate of the international safety standard body IFRA (International Fragrance Association).

Comment from Minoru Tsuzuki

While scent is often discussed in the realm of sensibility, there remains significant room for it to be implemented in society based on scientific backing. Through this initiative, I hope to expand the possibilities of scent in education, medicine, and local communities.

Comment from Kensuke Ogata, CEO of Promotool Co., Ltd.

Scent has been discussed in the realm of sensibility until now, but we are entering an era where it will be utilized as a "function." Through this initiative, I hope to lead to concrete value creation for companies and regions.
