Sunshine City Prince Hotel (Location: 3-1-5 Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo; General Manager: Mayumi Oda) will host the 6th Ikebukuro Literary Series, 'Can't Sleep Tonight: Midsummer Night's Ghost Stories' 2026, as a seasonal summer experience event on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the hotel's B1 floor collaboration restaurant, 'IKEPRI CANVAS.'
This annual summer event, held since 2021, features popular rakugo performers and kodan storytellers reciting masterpieces by literary figures associated with Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, where our hotel is located.
In its sixth year, we welcome back Kyotaro Yanagiya, a leading figure in the modern rakugo world, and Teikyo Ichiryusai, a popular kodan storyteller known for her rich repertoire and expressive delivery, for a one-night-only performance.
The program will feature two 'ghost stories': 'Shinkei Kasane-ga-fuchi: Muneetsu-goroshi' by Encho Sanyutei and 'The Broken Promise' by Lafcadio Hearn, offering an immersive, chilling experience for a midsummer night.
Dinner will feature a Western-style course menu incorporating 'Edo-Tokyo vegetables' to evoke the feeling of summer. Guests can choose between a stay plan that includes dinner and the event, or a day-trip plan that includes dinner and the event.
As a hotel located in 'Entertainment City IKEBUKURO,' where various cultures such as anime, art, theater, and music can be enjoyed, we aim to contribute to the revitalization of the city by providing traditional Japanese performing arts events that match the needs of both domestic and international visitors.
