Shizukuishi Golf Course (Location: Takakura Onsen, Shizukuishi Town, Iwate District, Iwate Prefecture, General Manager: Koji Nagasawa) will begin operations for a new sports activity, "Footgolf," from the spring of 2026. This course will be the first Japan Footgolf Association certified course in the Tohoku region. Footgolf is a sport where players kick a soccer ball around a golf course and compete based on the number of kicks it takes to get the ball into a designated cup. It is a new leisure sport that fuses soccer and golf, gaining popularity worldwide. No special equipment is required, making it a sport that people of all ages, from children to adults, can easily enjoy. For this course design, former Japan national soccer player Daigo Nishi participated as a supervisor. A footgolf course has been completed with a layout that allows players to enjoy strategy and exhilaration. Players can enjoy the game on fairways surrounded by magnificent nature, experiencing the grand scale unique to a golf course. To commemorate the start of operations, an opening event will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The event will include rule explanations and trial play, making it easy for beginners to participate. Shizukuishi Golf Course aims to promote footgolf as an initiative to revitalize local communities and tourism by offering a new sports experience in addition to golf.
