Shizukuishi Golf Course will open the first Japan FootGolf Association certified course in the Tohoku region in the spring of 2026.
Shizukuishi Golf Course (Location: Takakura Onsen, Shizukuishi-cho, Iwate-gun, Iwate Prefecture; General Manager: Koji Nagasawa) will begin offering a new sports activity, "FootGolf," starting in the spring of 2026. This will be the first course in the Tohoku region to be certified by the Japan FootGolf Association. FootGolf is a sport where players kick a soccer ball around a golf course, competing to get the ball into a dedicated cup in the fewest number of kicks. It is gaining popularity worldwide as a new leisure sport that fuses soccer and golf. It is attracting attention as a sport that requires no special equipment and can be easily enjoyed by people of all generations, from children to adults. The course design was supervised by former Japan national soccer team player Daigo Nishi, resulting in a layout that allows players to enjoy both strategic depth and a sense of exhilaration. Players can enjoy the game on fairways surrounded by magnificent nature, experiencing the scale unique to a golf course. To commemorate the launch, an opening event will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, featuring rule explanations and trial play, making it accessible even for beginners. By offering this new sports experience alongside golf, Shizukuishi Golf Course aims to foster regional interaction and revitalize tourism.

*Soccer balls are limited in quantity. We recommend bringing your own.
What is FootGolf?

* Please bring your own soccer ball. (Rental: ¥500 per ball)
* Soccer cleats are prohibited (please wear training shoes, etc.). Sandals are not permitted.
* Estimated play time for 9 holes is approx. 1 hour 15 minutes. Please be mindful of slow play.
* 5-seater golf carts are available for rent at ¥4,000 per cart (driver's license required).
* Completion of 18 holes cannot be guaranteed (due to sunset, etc.).
